Pukes getting violent here -- how is it where you are?

I don't know what set them off, perhaps the poll that has Kerry ahead by one point, but this morning when I went to the senior center there were two incidences of threatened violence and several loud arguments. It looks like the brownshirts are active.

6. We're deep into sign and sticker wars where I live
Fucking pathetic, worse than high school stuff.

I keep my JK sign indoors (prominently displayed where it can be seen), but I fully expect my car to be keyed before this election. I have already been run off the road once.

14. I have a round "NO W" sticker on my truck, no problems yet
Of course, I'm talking about a battered, 15 year old Ford Ranger that sort of scream "NO INSURANCE!" even though my insurance is paid up, so people tend to get out of my way.

My electric moped also sports the stickers, but people are so curious about what it is and where I got it that they forget to be annoyed.

I don't suppose the truce will last, though, as the loudmouthed pinheads for Bush get more and more desperate that their little tin Jesus isn't worshipped by all.

10. Intimidation and lies...
...a large contingent of Bushbots are itching for a "cultural civil war". Traitors to our nation, they have nothing but complete disdain for the Bill of Rights and for their fellow countrymen. I'm working hard to get over my liberal tendency to "believe in the good possible in everyone" so I can write these traitors off when the time comes...

17. Lessons of the past
The last time someone (partisan groups) who pushed hard enough for a cultural Civil War got what they wanted. Civility and respect for rule of law is in decline in Ashcroft's home state. Loss or absence of basic human rights is intolerable whenever or wherever it occurs. That has been the most basic central theme in American history.

11. Ironically...
Remember last night I was on here calling everyone an asshole for attacking the father who brought the little girl to the Edwards rally?

Well, let no good deed go unpunished. The alarm on my Cherokee went off early this morning. Seems someone broke out the back glass (where my Kerry-Edwards sticker was located). The cops seem to think it was just random vandalism and not motivated politically although one told me, "maybe you'll re-think having that on your vehicle, huh?"

Good news is that I'm insured and the Jeep is already having a new window installed -- I plan on putting a new bumper sticker in the same spot before I leave the auto place.

So much for karma...

18. It may have been the guy's own son who tore the sign.

There was a thread on this. Parlock, the guy with his daughter on his shoulders, has a history of disrupting rallies.

This is a pattern. Since Democrats don't tend to be violent, the pukes put infiltrators into peaceful groups to urge violence, they put provocateurs into protests to perform violent acts that can be blamed on the protesters and give the cops an excuse for brutality, and, in this case, the guy apparently has his son pretend to be a Democrat because Democrats wouldn't attack him and give him the publicity he wanted.

Nobody is stealing or tearing up chimp signs, nobody is vandalizing their campaign headquarters--all the violence is coming from them and directed against us. As usual. That's why we're not them and that's why we won't vote for them. They're filth.

Why on earth would a father do that to his kid? Is he mentally challenged?

Regardless of the circumstance, my heart still goes out to that little girl. She didn't deserve to be treated the way she was yesterday.

Some idiot took a once screw out of my liscence plate, I have to keep it in my back window so I can still drive. I thought it migh thave been just the screw, then I read some of these posts so I think that might be the issue. If that's what it is, that is pretty pathetic.

13. America today

I do not view most Republicans as thugs some are relatives (granted not very bright). The rhetoric is becoming too heated. The stakes are raising and Kerry is the best hope we have for stability. I cannot imagine another four years of Bush.

22. Taliban Repugs
The Repugs may be America's Taliban, however, there were also a few Democrats (who hired Repugs) who trained the Taliban. We need to watch out and not allow Repugs train Democrats, you could become what you fear the most. There have been more than a few times I would have liked to let my brother and definitely my in-laws HAVE IT, I manage to smile and walk away. That tends to piss them more.

30. Repugs are more equal opportunity than in the past
Modern Repugs are a little more equal opportunity. For Example:

My relatives are not rich yet meet most of this criteria. (Frankly you missed inserting levels of cognitive functioning which I do know something about)
Zell calls himself a democrat but he is not fat thinks like a repug.
Ann Coulter is not fat or male someone must be feeding her anyway.
Condie is not white, fat, or a male.

I meet three of the four above and absolutely am not a repug. If I came into money I would still resist becoming a repug. Kerry and the Kennedy's who are rich are not repugs

So I can accept someone being:
fat
white
male
uneducated
rich
and cognitively a concrete thinker (my professional ethics resists calling a person stupid which is vague and ambiguous)

Everyone can resist becoming a repug.

32. Concrete thinking--I'm no expert
but I've read about this and wondered if many rigid Republicans are at this stage. I'm not talking about most moderates or principles conservatives, only the red meat folks.

Do you think that most Dems function at higher levels?

35. I agree
There are different terms for this but it is essentially a value judgment and difficult to quantify. You do not have to be an expert to recognize someone who has a cause greater than themselves. For the most parts Democrats may be more Socially aware in their relationships. I have to be careful here, that is my judgment.

The Democratic Party and those who consider themselves Democrats have evolved. Republicans have also changed. Too bad we cannot see how some historical figures such as Lincoln and Eisenhower would respond today. Of all the Presidents this century I respect Eisenhower the most for warning Americans about the Military Industrial Complex. For that rare moment President Eisenhower showed a cause greater than himself, especially when you consider he presided over a country.

I also realize that I am a product of my environment politically but like to think I would choose the path I am on today. My Grandfather was a Democratic convert in the early 1930's. He knew Harry Truman and Clarence Cannon very well. My Grandfather originally came from a Republican oriented family .

20. Don't underestimate SOME of them.
For some of them this is a religious war. Remember bush is reborn and was put there by their god. They will resort to tactics that will surprise some of you. Violence is not out of the question, neither is using their children.

They never heard of turning the other cheek which is a good effective tactic in some cases.

Teddy Roosevelt (recovered Republican nationalist) said something about speaking softly. My dad (ex Marine), Grandfather, and old an fat US Army Sergent Major with the stick.

This certainly surprises me.

Can't say there's any right-wing nonsense around here, since they are overwhelmingly outnumbered by Democrats.

27. This is a low income senior center.

Many seniors who come here are homeless or have been homeless. And for some of the older guys, the reason they are or have been homeless is that they are criminals, and in some cases child molesters. Nobody wants them around. They steal, they lie, they smirk like the chimp, and they're Republicans. Most of the seniors here are decent people who worked hard all their lives, and some are WWII vets. The majority are Democrats.

Fortunately, the Senior Center has a full time security guard. He is an ex-Marine, definitely not stupid, and plans to vote for Bush. But I have a sense that some of this stuff going on might just turn him around, where logical arguments failed.

There hasn't actually been violence in the Senior Center yet, just threats of violence and loud arguments. One guy was banned this morning. But it is getting worse every day.

31. Fascinating
This is one of the most thought provoking discussions I have seen lately. No disrespect to you or your anarchy symbol, but some of the local kids I have seen use that symbol to indicate a interest in crack. That is a local connotation

34. I have no interest in crack

or meth or speed of any sort, even though I live in California, which is sort of a mecca for such stuff. They had a documentary on PBS (last night, I think) about the guy who drove a tank through the streets, and a lot of his friends and neighbors were self-admitted or obvious tweakers (I think that's the term).

I chose the avatar because I've done quite a bit of reading about anarchist thought and about how anarchists were demonized by our government, and also because one of the founders of a local pirate radio station, which airs Democracy Now, is an anarchist. I believe that some sort of government, formal or informal, is necessary to protect the weak and vulnerable, like kids, the sick, and the very elderly, from society's predators. I have a very good attitude towards authority--so long as I'm not disobeyed. (Stolen quote, but I can't remember where I got it from.)

In my case the "A" might stand for alienated.

Most of the violence I've seen or heard of in my life has come from governments. And it seems to me, although I know I'm generalizing, that whenever the government says something defamatory about somebody or about some group, it applies more to the government itself than to whoever they're maligning.

As for the senior center, it looks like many of the most unsavory characters are going to get themselves banned before this election is over.
