"LIE"berman Would Prefer ‘Nothing’ To Health Care Reform With A PO, Should we abandon PO or HCR?

http://thinkprogress.org/2009/11/01/liberman-nothing-public-option/

SCHIEFFER: But is what you’re also saying is that nothing is better than a government health insurance, or a health insurance reform that includes a public option? Nothing is better than that?

LIEBERMAN: Well, the truth is that nothing is better than that because I think we ought to follow, if I may, the doctor’s oath in Congress as we deal with health care reform, do no harm.

3. J Lieberman wants bomb (nuke?) on Iran, huge Afghan surge, unlimited OT settlements
and presidential rebuke of Goldstone UN report. JL will approve PO when his demands are met.

6. The Democratic Party leadership has abandoned a strong public option so what's your point?
Edited on Sun Nov-01-09 12:48 PM by Better Believe It

Contrary to Leiberman's lying deception, a strong, robust public option has been abandoned.

So Leiberman's objection to the health insurance bill has nothing to do with a real public option.

He's just supporting the Republican party line on health care.

It appears that meaningful health care reform has been abandoned, by the Democratic Party leadership.

8. It may APPEAR that way to you, Joe and the Republicans
But here in reality there is no final bill yet, and there is still time to fight for a stronger PO if that's what you're for. That is exactly how our democracy is supposed to work.

Lots of people here are also ignoring the rest of the direct reforms in the bill ONLY because they don't like the PO. Just like Joe.

9. Wrong. The Republicans and Leiberman are claiming just the opposite!

Don't you at all follow what they say and do?

7. I would prefer that LIEberman shut up and go the hell away--hey, joe, how about israel?
oh, I know, you couldn't get all that money funneled over there if you were actually living there.

and how is it that you like sending billions to israel, with its universal health care, when the people here, whose money it is, are not worthy of it, according to you?

11. Abandon the individual mandate.
Then some "health insurance reform" legislation would make sense. Add back the Kucinich Amendment, and it might be worth passing.

He wouldn't be there without them and I hope they are ashamed of themselves.

edit: (those who voted for him I mean, I'm sure a LOT of people didn't, they are vindicated, sad it had to be this way though)

15. I say we abandon attempts to reach a 60 vote cloture and go for reconciliation.
The Senate's incredibly fucking undemocratic. I say we forcefully democratize the institution. At least for this single issue.
