Which issues do you think the Republicans will use to attack Democrats?
So far, thanks to the Democrats, credit card rates are skyrocketing (as banks prepare for the price of reform), unemployment continues to climb while Wall Street does very well, we're seeing record numbers of deaths of Americans in Afghanistan, our health care plan is likely to satisfy very few people other than insurance and pharmaceutical companies, and our deficit is skyrocketing.

Obama is not completely at fault in this, but frankly he has not exhibited successful leadership on critical issues. If the Democrats don't start showing some guts, like the Republicans do, then I think whatever hopes we had for Obama are going to fade when Republicans regain control of Congress.

I am so tired of the lovely photos of the Obamas. Their many photo ops are no substitute for success and, frankly, whether the fault lies with Reid, Pelosi, or others, it's Obama's job to get the job done. He should stop with the photo ops, as much as his sycophants love them, and start playing hardball. We elected him to bring about change for the better, and so far he's been mediocre at best.

1. Whatever it will be, it will be so surreal and baseless that not even
science fiction writers could have thought of it.

The GOP is loud these days with baseless, crazy claims against Obama and other Democrats.

I expect the crazy now as a normal part of the Republican Party response to events.

2. I think a better question to ask is this:

Which issues do you think the Republicans will NOT use to attack Democrats?

3. Socialism
Communism, fascism...as if they are interchangeable. They will attempt to attack Democrats on deficit spending  and a bunch of other hypocritical nonsense.

Basically they will lie through their teeth

4. Does it really matter?
Those in that party who carefully hand craft the daily talking points will use anything at all to attack Obama. As far as banks preparing for the price of reform my take on it is just another attempt by the moneyed interests in this country to fleece the average person; like deregulation and the bailouts weren't enough.

I think we owe it to him to give Obama more than 11 months in office to judge the success of his administration.

5. I support the President
I'm happy about some policies, ambivalent about others, and think some are pretty stupid.

That being said, I owe Barack Obama nothing. If anything he owes me.

9. I do too.
Yes he owes his grass roots supporters big time. With the health care reform I'm taking a wait and see approach as to what the final legislation will be.
The sausage is still being made as it were.

14. This bill will make no one happy
a few people miserable and a lot of people angry. Hopefully the theory that it is a starting point not an ending point is actually true.

10. Obama doesn't "owe" me or anyone else anything for our support
I trust that he will make the majority of his decisions in a way that will be palatable to me and his other supporters.

Don't get me wrong - there have been some things that administration has done that leave me cold, such as defending DOMA in court, going to court in Mass to say that the Fedgov doesn't have to confer benefits to same sex marriage folk in the state, and not pushing for prosecution of Bushco. Plus, I wish he would be more forceful about a real medicare-like public option. The civil right stuff leaves me angry, actually. But if I look at things on balance, I still see tremendous promise in President Obama -- he had an uphill battle in front of him and it seems that the hill is only getting steeper.

But I'm not naive enough to think anyone is perfect, and I do feel that I'm probably to the left of most Americans. It's going to take a generation to change hearts and minds, and I'm glad that President Obama is in control far more than Palin and McCain, which was our only alternative.

Something that I'm tremendously happy about is that calling oneself Liberal is no longer the pejorative the Reagan admin spent years promoting. I see this as a positive sign, especially as the next more liberal generation gets older and becomes more involved.

13. Actually he does owe everyone that supported him and even those who
don't support him the following

"I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

6. I've learned, it doesn't matter.
You shoot some pirates, and they turn it into shooting young men or some bullshit. You win the Noble Peace prize and they turn it into something that was premature or some bullshit. You turn the economy around and come out of it without a Great Depression, and they ask where the jobs are this second or some bullshit. So what does it matter? It doesn't.

11. Which issues do you think the Republicans will use to attack Democrats?
If history is any indication they will use every issue and make several up while they are at it.

Polls show Republicans in the tank. Very few Americans will now identify themselves as Republican. Yet, if we look at the media one would have to assume the Republican Party won every phase of the election and are at an all time high in popularity. Our media is so skewed to the RW side that it will assist the GOP in any and every attack they mount on President Obama and the Democrats. This is just like during the Clinton Administration.

A sign of depression.

Things are not that bad. Imagine living in the depression of the 30s or during Viet Nam.
