7. No, it's true.
I'm almost 52, and while I don't look like that, I can sort of see it coming. She just looks old and burned out. Her attitude doesn't look very happy, if that's what you mean.

16. I agree, Janx
(And I'm catching up with you age-wise).

Yeah, I meant attitude really, I didn't mean people's looks or the ageing process - I'm lucky enough to be surrounded by elderly family members who are so full of spirit and joy they couldn't wear such a mean and miserable expression if they tried. I suppose it's a state of mind. I just struggle to come to terms with elderly folk who object to healthcare for all, it baffles this mind.

And still look happy!

My great granny lived to be 99.75 and she never looked cranky like that woman. My sister, on the other hand, is in her mid-thirties and looks cranky as all hell when her face is at rest.

31. Up or down in wrinkles is lifestyle?
No. Stress or abuse--and genetic propensity--makes more wrinkles, and the genetic factor does also. But the up or down thing is genetic.

My mother had deep vertical creases between her eyes and above, not because she was pissed off, but because she frowned when she analyzed things, and she sometimes frowned in her sleep. In addition, she was very expressive, so the horizontal lines on her forehead developed early. She was very fair.

34. Wrinkles are perfectly natural, I just believe that if you lead an unhealthy lifestyle and...
...you don't look after your skin properly then you're likely to have a few more. Again, I speak from bitter experience - my sister, who is my double, is almost 10 years older than me but looks, at worst, the same age - she's led, needless to say, a healthier life.

But, as I clarify elsewhere in the thread, I wasn't forwarding some wacky theory that right wing women age quicker or have more wrinkles!! I was just suggesting - in fun, as usual - that if you're mean and miserable your face might well end up reflecting your personality. It wasn't an age-related comment at all.

46. Bingo
"if you're mean and miserable your face might well end up reflecting your personality."

There is an interesting book, "Amazing Face Reading, An Illustrated Encyclopedia for Reading Faces," by Mac Fulfer, J.D. It details what every line and wrinkle on a face means.

After studying the book, you can identify personality just by reading faces.

47. The wrinkles themselves are genetic...
The mood they depict is purely that of the wearer. You can't spend your life smiling and end up with frown lines... it just doesn't work that way.

32. My surrogate mother, Mrs. Happy Fordham, used to say to her daughters...
Something like this:

"God's responsible for the expression on your face until you're through your teens.

After that, you're responsible for it."

Of course we can all smile, we can all frown, but to be sure there are some of us who have "happy lines" and "sad lines", or wrinkles, as we age and these are largely a result of how much time our faces spend in which of these positions.

:P :P :P
