Bush Seen Vulnerable to Kerry Among Independent Voters

Sat Sep 18,12:03 PM ET

By David Morgan

KENNEBUNKPORT, Maine (Reuters) - President Bush (news - web sites), who holds a sizable lead in some polls, still appears to be vulnerable to Democrat John Kerry (news - web sites) among independent voters whose shifting loyalties could determine the winner of the November election, pollsters say.

Polling results from the Pew Research Center, the Christian Science Monitor and the Gallup Organization suggest independent voters are favoring Kerry as concerns about the economy and Iraq (news - web sites) re-emerge as top campaign issues, despite a surge of support for Bush following the Republican convention.

"At this point, it seems that Kerry's doing slightly better than Bush among independents," said Jeff Jones, managing editor of the Gallup Poll.

A new Gallup survey released on Friday showed the Democratic presidential nominee leading Bush 50-43 percent among independents, even though the Republican incumbent held a 13-percentage-point lead among voters overall.

Any less than a 75% landslide is failure.

3. People are..................
just a little scarred of the prospect of a Lame Duck Bush Presidency. Can you blame them? There aren't that many here who have gone into full panic mode..............yet.

There has been some negativity to be sure, but considering what's at stake I think it's entirely expected.

And that 13% over all lead? It seems everyone is climbing up the Gallup flagpole, a flagpole that is severely weighted to one side and will inevitably come crashing down.

4. Not so loud! Corporate media doesn't want this to get out!
How dare any of us post such positive information? This goes directly against everything shrub, Rove and the corporate media want the general public to know about.

Please refrain from exorcising your right as an American to upset this administration's game plan!

6. Polls like gallop anticipate voter turnout to be 40% gop, and 33% dem

However, dems outnumber gop nationally, and so we basically make sure we keep the base fired up.

7. With real numbers then, Gallup must have Kerry leading.
If you had 39% Dems, 35% Repukes, and 26% Indies, it would be dead even and Kerry might be ahead.

9. "Likely voters"
That means that the Democrats just need to get their people out to vote and we win. Time to reach out to those voters who don't normally vote because of lack of transportation. How about finding them and encouraging the to vote through absentee ballot?
