I've done polling and this STINKS! These are false polls meant to discourage Democrats and meanwhile they tell their real polls to their groundpeople. THis is the corporatist scheme for the last few elections.

DON'T LET THEM GET AWAY WITH IT! Tell everyone you know the numbers in the thread title and watch their faces.

Zogby himself explained how they are doing it:

I have not yet been able to get the details of Time's methodology but I have checked out Newsweek's poll. Their sample of registered voters includes 38% Republican, 31% Democrat and 31% Independent voters. If we look at the three last Presidential elections, the spread was 34% Democrats, 34% Republicans and 33% Independents (in 1992 with Ross Perot in the race); 39% Democrats, 34% Republicans, and 27% Independents in 1996; and 39% Democrats, 35% Republicans and 26% Independents in 2000. While party identification can indeed change within the electorate, there is no evidence anywhere to suggest that Democrats will only represent 31% of the total vote this year. In fact, other competitors have gone in the opposite direction. The Los Angeles Times released a poll in June of this year with 38% Democrats and only 25% Republicans. And Gallup's party identification figures have been all over the place.

This is no small consideration. Given the fact that each candidate receives anywhere between eight in ten and nine in ten support from voters in his own party, any change in party identification trades point for point in the candidate's total support. My polls use a party weight of 39% Democrat, 35% Republican and 26% Independent. Thus in examining the Newsweek poll, add three points for Mr. Bush because of the percentage of Republicans in their poll, then add another 8% for Mr. Bush for the reduction in Democrats. It is not hard to see how we move from my two-point lead to their eleven-point lead for the President.

DWW - I believe the real numbers for 2004 will turn out to be around 42% Democrat, 34% Republican and Independent 26%. I think the registration drives and the young people saying that 62% will vote in 2004 will bump up the Dems at least 3 points and maybe more. On top of all that consider this:

In likely voters, some of these media polls are saying only 79% OF DEMOCRATS WILL SHOW UP! They say 89% of Republicans will actually come to the polls!

THis is gross manipulation.

The new registers by the way will NEVER show up in most polls because THEY ALL USE OLD LISTS OF VOTERS. And if you have never voted before, most will NEVER CATEGORIZE YOU AS A LIKELY VOTER.

That's how it works!

All right. Can anyone take the Newsweek numbers and make a real poll of it?

Anyone have the link to other articles on this?

1. Those sort of breakdowns of people polled
Are easily responsible for nearly all of the differnce between Kerry and Bush. This is roughly polling 20 percent more Republicans than Democrats.

your "Winner" ahead in the polls...... If your "Winner" is down in the polls by 5%, it is a very hard sell that they "WON" by 10%......

by another DUer.

I posted Scott Rasmussen's criticism of the Time poll that explained the over sampling of Repukes.

Rasmussen's statement was from his Premium Site, so I copied it and posted it verbatim.

Both threads dealt with the inaccuracies of both polls over a week ago.

6. No, we're talking generally about how the corporatist media
has started the election fraud by putting out deliberately skewed polls. The Dem representation is so low as to be classified outright fraud, IMHO.

THis is to help steal the election later and depress Democrat workers now.

Especially now.

THe point is to not trust any poll, at least until you know what the weighting is. 42% Democrat in this election is the most likely figure to follow. Anything else is too low I believe.

There are more recent polls than Newsweek but obviously there is something going on.

It's called a goddamn conspiracy!
