Go Rick S. Take these folks to task about ACORN....
Show it what it really is, a concerted effort to defame an organization that is trying to help low and moderate income people survive in the no holds barred capitalism the Right is in favor of.

About the voter registration forms. If you take in a registration form from a potential voter you are acting as an agent for the Board of Election first and ultimately the Secretary of State. In that position as an agent for the Board and SOS, you are required to turn in any and all registration forms to the Board or SOS.

I just caught the last bit on Rick Sanchez with the CEO of ACORN but she made it clear that they tagged and turned in every registration form they had in their custody. That is the law. This point needs to be made over and over again that no matter if the form is blatantly wrong, it still MUST be turned into the Board or the SOS. That is the LAW. That is the fiduciary responsibility of those conducting any voter registration drive.

1. Didn't see that part, but seeing his offensive question
to the black woman about what she might have said or done to "provoke" the attack. She didn't say or do anything and even if she did, NOTHING justifies being beaten like that. NOTHING. So I'm pissed off at Rick for today.

2. Why do you think that is offensive?
I think he knew the answer to that question but wanted to get that part out of the way. I think he figured some dumbass is going to ask that on twitter (or may have already done so) and wanted to give her the chance to speak for herself. It didn't seem offensive to me.

7. No.
Obviously this case isn't about rape.

4. I see your point, but "provoke" doesn't mean "deserve." nt

6. He's just trying to establish that the attacker was a complete asshat.
I think it's part of giving background for the audience. It might have been said inarticulately, but I don't think I would read anything into it.

hope they are even more active in the good work they do, do now they are aware of how they were hoodwinked. Even in some cases they refused to leave their offices, in this scam.

9. If ACORN was just turning in someone else's false registration form
that is a solid argument. If ACORN employees were the ones generating those forms, then the argument isn't a very good defense.

11. Here in Cleveland, they were paying people to canvass and register voters...
A few were caught turning in obviously fake registrations and the local ACORN supervisor turned them in marked. The Country Prosecutor stepped in and the three or four guilty canvassers were indicted.

12. That's the thing...
you can't blame them if some asshole turns in a fake form, but if it's their own employees filling them out, they're not blameless. It's not necessarily an indictment of the entire organization, but they do bear some responsibility for the people they hire.
