http://prescriptions.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/09/09/on-the-presidents-guest-list-tonight/?hpVictoria Reggie Kennedy will be seated in the First Lady’s Box, along with Dr. Eric Whitaker, a close friend of the Obamas, as well as nearly two dozen ordinary Americans who have fought disease and grappled with high cost of insurance. Some have written letters to Mr. Obama about their experiences; others have introduced him at town hall meetings or have asked him questions during his appearances.
They include people like Darlene Daniels of Baltimore, who has a chronic condition, sarcoidosis, that attacks all her major organs but must pay out of pocket for care because she has reached her insurance coverage cap for this year; David Turner of a Little Rock, Ark., whose insurance company canceled his coverage after he discovered he had high cholesterol; and Darlene Neff, a retired teacher from Iowa City, Iowa, who has coverage under Medicare but hosted a community meeting on health reform, the White House said, because she knows that ‘’others go without even basic medical care.’’
