A)how progressives always have the deck stacked against them in any era because the dudes with the huge bank accounts are always against progress and will do what they can to stop it.

B)Most Americans bias toward "things staying the same" because most humans fear change and will tend toward status quo unless convinced overwhelmingly to go in a different direction.

C)The 24/7 media is on a full tilt to publicize every screaming town hall nutter, every potential downside, every exaggeration or lie about health care to scare people.

Obama and his team have been very sophisticated in their media barrage and other communication techniques, but it is out of necessity because the machine attempting to block progress has become so sophisticated.

so how is it when they can outmaneuver Hillary in Texas primaries/caucuses and outmaneuver the "lowest commond denominator" politics of racism and cynicm that Obama and his team didn't foresee this in your mind.

Look at how Clinton got whalloped in health care reform in 93. Look how Bush got whalloped in social security "reform" privatization in 2005. It was eminently knowable that the full onslaught would be there.
