Radio report: Ohio for shrubbery by 8 points.
They said the Cleveland Plain Dealer did the poll. Anybody have any info?

What are some of the things I can do to help? I live in an absurdly Republican area, there are maybe one or two other Dems on my street. I've been talking up JK to the neighbors, hopefully I can sway one or two. What else can I do? I can't be overly public, because I am a Realtor, and can't afford to alienate a big chunk of my client base. Behind the scenes stuff is good for me.

1. I find these polls not to be
believed. We need to look at the methodology. Do those polled actually match the probably voter turnout (age, gender, occupation, and so on) in November? Only THAT kind of careful polling is better than just a guess.

Probably these polls showing Bush having a commanding lead are intended to discourage Kerry voters from voting. I hope not. I sincerely hope it motivates us and Kerry wins by a huge, not to be stolen, landslide. I also hope that it has the effect on the Republicans that the bad polling of 1948 did, and keeps Republicans home.

But I so much don't trust these people. I know they will do anything to stay in power.

3. Three things you can do
1. Get them some literature, tell them to look it over at their leisure.

2. Make yourself available to them -- always. If they have questions, if they want to talk, tell them you'll listen, and get the answers they need if you don't already have them yourself.

3. Keep touch with them now through Election Day. Keep reinforcing the fact that they are not alone, despite appearances. If they think they may have trouble getting to the polls on Election Day, offer to take them.

And don't mind the polls. Just concentrate on the folks you know who are likely Kerry voters, and try to convince those whom you know are undecided, as the rest of us in Ohio are doing. Poll-watching is a waste of time. There's work to be done.

4. I think it is the Mason-Dixon/Knight Ridder/MSNBC con job
Kerry is not down by 8 in Ohio.
