13. Did you check to see if you can get the 65% subsidy?
It would still be a chunk of money, but it might help.

17. It was about 650 for me
Hell, going to the ER w/o insurance is cheaper than that.

20. $750 in Cobra?! I thought Cobra was supposed to be cost effective.
Meh, my sister dropped it when she got to $400...you need to turn it loose.

4. Funny. I was going to start a thread with that title
LOL. Give it em, big Eddie. Jonathan Alter is really bugging me. He's reverting back to his middle to right philosophy, so in evidence during the first chimp term.

9. Alter forgets what it FEELS like to barely make financial ends meet.

I also regret that cold intellectual attitude is shared by far
too many of our blue dog representatives.

10. Has Alter EVER been in a situation where he could not make ends meet?
I'm not even sure that being forgetful is the issue.

12. I sent an email to Mary Matalin because of one of her cluless rants
about working class people not taking responsibility for their own affairs. Her argument was that she grew up in a working class family from Pittsburgh. I was gobsmacked by the response and pointed out that the life she has led for the past few decades have divorced her from a true understanding of the challenges that working people face.

She was lucky to make the right choices and have the right friends. If not for that, she'd be waiting tables on the South side or a homemaker in Cranberry Twp.

I've been on both sides of the fence and know too well that once you're on the have-more side it's too easy to forget your roots and condemn those that haven't done as well as you.

I won't condemn her or Alter for their viewpoints but I understand it's a result of their life experience. It just kicks me in the ass that they forgot what life was like when they weren't so privileged.

I never forgot that and never will. My life isn't so much about me but how I can care for those that need my help.

11. When I lost or left a job it was hard enough just paying the bills
much less the arm and leg that Cobra would cost. Totally unrealistic.
