Gibbs just now (1:55PM) : "I trust that 3 republicans on the Senate Finance
Committee are working in good faith". Grassley?? He is throwing BS with that statement.

1. He is putting the onus
on the three repukes to work in good faith. Shining the spotlight on them, so to speak, so we can all watch their obstructionism.

12. exactly picture below shows Grassley's current position

what is he going to do? tell his conservative supporters that he is not negotiating in good faith? tell his fellow senators that his comments were just theater?

Grassley has painted himself into a very stupid corner. Everytime we say that we think he is acting in good faith he gets into more trouble with his base, btw it seems as if he is going to have a primary contest next year so this is causing him more and more trouble with his base.

It actually is very funny.

5. Just going through the motions at this point.
Trying to keep up the appearances of bipartisanship. They all know the Republicans won't vote for it.

7. I can't believe he's still spouting that BIPARTISAN crap...
Saying they want a bill that can be supported by both parties ~ unless he's only thinking of Snowe and Collins, that's delusional.

8. Now it's just a game

They know Grassley is not interested. They've heard him loud and clear. When Grassley promoted they do want to kill Granny, that was the end of any real chance of bipartisanship, if there ever was. Now the only bipartisanship they might have are the two last Northeast moderate Republicans Snowe and Collins. And those those two might just be enough, if they would vote for cloture.

11. Gibbs was just asked if it's true that the WH is involved in looking into passing the bill
Edited on Wed Aug-19-09 01:12 PM by jenmito
through reconciliation and he said he doesn't know and that he's focused on the "here and now-not the 'what if.'" It should be obvious to everyone that they ARE. The WH is keeping up the APPEARANCE that they are still hopeful about bi-partisanship.
