Short Attention Span Theater - America went Blue over healthcare
Was it your issue? I know it was mine. It was THE issue for many, many people I know - Real people who are crushed by debt or enslaved to jobs they are unhappy with in order to keep their healthcare or who spend an insane amount of their earnings on all things health related.

We paid attention in the campaign. John McCain was ridiculed for his plan to basically ignore the issues and give out tax credits. Hillary and Romney both offered mandated private coverage. President Obama offered as his campaign position on healthcare a comprehensive plan with an insurance exchange that included a Medicare-like public option and which renegotiated drug prices for Medicare.

If the Democrats who now control the Senate, the Congress and the Presidency think that Americans will be appeased with some band-aid, stop-gap measure that throws some bones to a few and takes forever to be in effect and leaves the rest of us stranded and up the creek as usual, they really will have another think coming.

Give the people what they voted for - meaningful healthcare reform. Have some guts, do the right thing. While the process has been messy, the end result is what really matters. I really, truly believe that the fate of this Presidency and the long-term survival of the Democratic Party depend on this. If we can control the House, the Senate and the Presidency and still come up short, then many people will find the resulting disillusionment just too much to bear.

2. Well said.
The Dems. just need to use their numbers and their power to push this thing through. The Repugs' asses are OWNED by the insurance industry and Big Pharma (as are some of the Dems' asses). Bipartisanship on this particular issue is, as we have seen, not worth the trouble.

3. Yes - it was ONE of mine. A biggie.
Obama won the GE. There is a mandate and the GOPigs, CorpDems and the corpwhoremedia want us all to forget that fact with their constant obstructions, fear mongering, lies and bullshit polls.
