Dear Senator _____,

As I watch the debate concerning health insurance reform, I see that this is likely the most important piece of legislation in my lifetime. For so long I have taken our broken system for granted. But now, because of President Obama's initiative, I see that I, as an American, do not need to live with a health care system that works against my general welfare.

* I can no longer live under the fear of getting sick and not having health insurance because I've lost my job.

* I can no longer live with the fear that I'll be denied coverage, or be kicked out of my insurance plan, because I've gotten too sick.

* I can no longer live with the reality that, even if I have insurance, I'll still risk bankruptcy if I or any member of my family needs extensive care.

Senator ______, I need for you to step up in support of a robust public option. No true reform of our health insurance system can exist without one. A public option is the only way the insurance companies will cease their astronomical raising of premiums and their inhumane denials of coverage to maintain revenue.

I am counting on you. Please do not let me down.
