If the Dem's go solo on this, what can President Obama offer that will
entice those in more conservative districts or states vote for Health Care Reform?

Personally, I believe he ought to then go out there and raise money like crazy for those on the fringe. Then he should make it clear that should they lose, he will do everything in his power to help them in the future.

This is what the GOP does, this is what we should be doing.

1. I agree.
For once, it might be worth it to take a page from the Republican's play book.

Especially one that gets down to the grass roots. He knows plenty about that...he came from those grass roots himself.

2. The problem is that the blue dogs are from constituencies that don't like Obama.
Or...that's the argument they use when working against us.

3. If Gov Arnie can do it to knock people down, Obama can show that
signing statements can be for the GOOD of the people. Too many are simply, single-mindedly(ironies abound), dogmatically against single payer; it's just too big for them.....

How about their asses remaining free from his foot?

5. The GOP doesn't "entice" its members to vote the right way. It twists arms and blackmails.
It does that behind the scenes, until its members fall in line.

Rahm has decided not to go to the mat for a public option, since he doesn't think a PO is necessary to begin with.

And don't forget...Rahm and Dean have a personal vendetta testosterone thing going on. Dean says a PO is necessary...so Rahm will do the opposite.

6. For all you Rahm haters, is this your safe way of slamming President Obama?
Because he is the boss ya know.

7. I don't "hate" Rahm. It is well known that he and Dean are enemies of a sort.
If you don't know that, you don't know much.

Dean has become proactive and an authoritative voice on the public option. Ergo...Rahm did, and will continue to, strike the opposite message. Unless it becomes law, in which case Rahm will say he always said it was a strong option and he advised Obama to that effect.

Dean recommended and employed a 50-state strategy to win the last presidential election (for the first time ever for the Dems, I believe). It was successful. Ta-da! So of course Rahm was applauded and took credit for Rahm's supposed idea to implement a 50-state strategy. (Dean was then quietly removed from his chairmanship, while Rahm was installed as chief of staff.)

I'm no big Dean fan. But I follow this stuff quite a lot, and I know what I see and hear.

Dean says P.O. is necessary. So Rahm will DEFINITELY not be in Dean's corner or appear to support a Dean idea in any way. That's the way their relationship works.

Rahm was brought into the W.H., I believe, to get Congress to support Obama's ideas and bills and plans. But...where's the beef?
