David Gregory and MTP were abysmal today
Gregory gave way too much time to the moronic Armey/Coburn faction and didn't allow Rachel time to refute many of the egregious lies. Instead, he just let the lies stand and changed the subject. He barely gave Rachel any time at all, although Daschle did get some air time. I was screaming at Gregory for much of the show. I only watched to see Rachel take on these duffuses, and Gregory largely ignored her or cut her off.

2. Did you expect anything different?
MTP was bad under Russert and it is worse under Gregory. Watch Rachel's show tomorrow night.

5. George S was great last week
He actually pointed out that Palins death panels (aka community standards or some such thing) were no where in any of the bills and cited the specific parts of the bill that the repubs were distorting. I was thinking it was about time some journalist straightened the lies out.

6. I am frankly surprised to hear that
George has been a disappointment for quite a long time. I am glad he acted responsibly for a change.

But pleasantly so.

4. I have a different view
I thought Rachel used her time wisely while Armey came off as a class A-1, hand wringing doofus. He admitted to be against Medicare. That ought to open some senior citizen eyes.

And Coburn really put his foot into the shit pile when he asserted that the government "earned" the death threat rhetoric that has been evident in the past week or so. "Earned" it. Rachel hopped on that and Coburn even tried to deny he said it. What a great moment.

Daschel got some very good points in and also made Coburn look like an idiot. Daschel has never been a favorite. But when he turned Coburn's words on their head and said that Americans only have a few "islands of excellence in a sea of mediocrity" of health care, it was a thing of beauty to watch Coburn's smugness curl up like a dry leaf.

It's not always how much time you have but how well you use the time allowed. And don't forget, Rachel has a weeknight program - a bully pulpit that Armey and Coburn don't have. She can beat them up night after night and brave enough to invite them into the studio to do it live.

8. I agree Rachel was great!
But she got very little time compared to the other three, and many who watch MTP don't watch her show.

9. I'm with you eleny, I thought it was great
Coburn and Armey looked like complete idiots and Rachel and Dashle looked well informed, reasonable, and got pot shots in.

Armey tried to dig Rachel for her bully pulpit...made me laugh. So few people would have any idea what he's talking about.

14. I agree with your analysis.
I expected Gregory to be his usual RW cheerleader self, but, by and large, he wasn't. He did however steer the debate to a critique of the President's handling of the issue. This was a waste of valuable time and significantly diminished the opportunity for Rachel and Tom's excellent advocacy of significant reform

10. Yes, he's a jewel of consistency, and I'm sure he'll be MTP host for 30 years.

11. Stopped watching after
Lawrence E. Spivak. Never liked Russert and Gregory is an absolute insult, robotically and obnoxiously upholding right-wing talking points all the time. Turn it off and lower your blood pressure.

12. But now . . .
People who maybe have never watched Rachel got a chance to see her. ;-)

Maybe they'll tune in tomorrow night.

Folks that never watch her that is.

I for one cannot WAIT for tomorrow night's show. Going to a friend's birthday dinner but I will definately be catching the second run! ;-)

13. With the opportunites she was given...
...I thought Rachel smoked them. She had Armey stammering when she asked him about his organizations ties to the current town hall debate fiasco. I suspect she'll be on here much more. Actually, I thought this was a very good coming out party for her- no pun intended. I don't think the typical person watching MTP would watch her show. Perhaps now they will.

15. I think she'll address the lies all next week.
She likes to set the record straight about the lies, especially if she's involved in any way with people who told them. Watch her. She's a real stickler for setting records straight, even to the point of taking herself to task for giving misinformation.

16. I loved the smackdown she gave to that firm the other night
Forgot their name, but they were complaining about her facts and she basically said: "Bring it on. I'm not afraid of your intimidation." (My words but that was the gist.)
