Chuckles Todd responds to my email about Obama and the Co-Op
My question: Earlier today you said that Obama will "eventually give in" to the co-op deal. Where is your proof of this?

His response:

My reporting... Numerous robert gibbs answers to the question... The president's very careful description of a public option...

But the most important point is that I have a ton of sources on this

the thing that gives me hope is that Todd is @ 0 for 20 on predictions
unless he steals it from Nate Silver.
I am still waiting for the bush bounce he predicted for june, 2008.

3. Gibbs has never alluded to that
I've read most of the transcripts of the press briefings. Teevee likes a ruckous. That's all this crap is. They all should be ashamed of the questions they ask in what passes for a White House press briefing.

6. Each times Gibbs was asked the question whether a coop was the equivalent of a public option, he
carefully avoided to answer. Now, it may be for pure political reasons, but do not hope that Chuck Todd would be able to figure out that. Nothing less than "No to coops" would have prevented Todd to say what he said, and even there, he would have speculated that Obama was being political.

12. I haven't seen it that way
I've always seen him indicate that the two were different. I haven't seen him decisively nix the coop, but he certainly hasn't made any indication that Obama found the co-op equal to the public option.

13. I said he did not answer , not that he said Obama found them identical.

I imagine that Todd is right in this case. Obama wants a public option, but, if he sees he can pass the bill with co-ops, he will lean toward co-ops. I do not think this is that surprising (may be disappointing, but not surprising).

7. Seems we only need one source... Obama
And Obama keeps talking about a public option and idiots like Todd keep ignoring his words.

10. A.B. Stoddard, The Hill for at 3 days insists that Obama should
go ahead drop the Public Option, Get Rid of the Living Will Option.
I must say a lot of reporters seem to have some sources somewhere
telling them the Public Option is off the table --Obama should
just go public is the implication.

Others believe it will be just a weak plan so Obama does
not completely fail.

It does not make me feel good to post these things, but we
had better be prepared in case we are mortally disappointed.

The reason I think there must be something to this. Yesterday,
you would have thought it was over and the Conservatives had
stopped Health Insurance Reform.

No one wanted decent Health Care Reform more than I.

I would almost be more inclined to put faith in a Glen Beck prediction.

14. Did you watch him spin the town hall? I watched the town hall, then I saw him report
on the town hall after with Lawrence... and he spun the town meeting. AND decided that its the Baucus plan that is the plan he'll sign. I didn't hear that in the town hall. Chuckie wants to make news because its rather boring getting stuck at the hanger while the Pres goes fishing.
