How close was gun guy to the President?
I have been attempting to find out just how close gun guy was to the school where the President held the town hall meeting. Does anyone have any information on this, street names, distances etc? How close did the motorcade come to this guys location, how far is the church from the school? I see a lot of information on this subject but have not been able to come up with hard facts regarding his proximity to President Obama.

1. I did find this:
Kostric said the Portsmouth police initially asked him to move 1,000 feet away from the school, but then permitted him to stay on the grounds of a church because it was private property. (Federal law generally restricts carrying firearms within 1,000 feet of school grounds, but the law does not apply "on private property not part of school grounds" or to anyone with a carry permit, with Kostric says he has.)

I was weighing my options," Kostric said. "I was considering walking out to the car and dropping off my firearm and coming back. (The policeman) got off hte phone and relayed to me, that if I wanted to stand on the church property, which is about 30 feet from where I already was, that would be acceptable because it was private property."

2. So at one point he was less than 1000 feet from the town hall venue

4. It appears he only moved 30ft away to church property.
So he still had to be less than 1000 feet away. The 1000 ft law for firearms doesn't apply to private property.

3. According to NBC's Ron Allen he was very 50 to 75 yards from the school
"Kostric has been about 50 to 75 yards from the entrance to the high school, since about 11:00 am ET, doing interviews and carrying a sign and his gun and police have had their eye on him."

5. I just used MSN Bing Map. Birdseye view. The church is really close to the school.
50-75 yards sounds right.

10. Whatever his range I'd guess that he had a Fed sniper crosshairing him the whole time.

Guys like this are assholes and obnoxious, but they aren't the real threat. It's the kook who has the concealed weapon.
