Telephone town hall meetings - what's an unruly mob to do?
Edited on Thu Aug-06-09 09:28 AM by ksoze
Appears the mobsters are getting ruffled that several elected officials are holding their HC town hall meetings via conference call with call in capbility (ex. Senator Jean Shaheen and Mark Schauer (D-MI). This should be interesting - the disruptor's are in a frenzy trying to figure out to monopolize a conference call.

1. New systems allow for all to be muted but the speaker and
questions have to be initiated one by one by the operator/moderator, who can dump them as well. No one can scream over each other. It is far less interactive and stilted, but who can argue with doing this, given what is going on.

3. I have gotten robo calls from the representatives offices in the past
inviting me to participate in phone town hall meetings, so if it is by invitation only, they can keep it to people who actually reside in the district and are actual constitutents of the representatives in question. No out of staters allowed to interfere.

Shame it has to come to this, and not as effective, or participitory but its a way to get our side out there.

2. What cracks me up about all of this type of thing
is that every rightwinger I know is the first to complain about things like 'censorship' and gets all goose-bumpy about democracy, yet they always seem to be the first to try to thwart democracy and censor their opponent through bullying tactics like these.

In short: #2,489 in the many ways that they are hypocrites.

He's actally done two in the past few weeks on health care alone. I think it's a great way to stay in touch with his west coast district while he's working back east.
