Some of the best things about the Clinton N. Korean mission story
How amazing is it that someone could command so much respect or be so well-liked - by a despot, no less - that his presence, for a short time, is the main thing the despot seeks?

And you just know that as soon as it became clear that Bill's help was needed, his response was, "how soon can we leave?" Not, hmmm, "I'm not sure I want to get mixed up in this", or "how dare they ask me after how I've been treated" or anything else.

I'm sure he talked through all the symbolism and complications with the State Department people and probably helped structure this so that the trip would succeed and NOT do what idiots like Bolton feared.

No, of course, I have no direct evidence of any of this, but that's just the way it looks to me and these (in addition to the great photos and comments of other DUers) are the reasons I'll always be a fan of his.

1. Yep. He's a helluva guy. And he was probably ten steps ahead of everyone at
State on the complexities...with the exception of his wife. Even he says she's smarter than he is!

7. That Reminds Me of Hillary on Letterman During the Campaign
When he asked her about Chelsea thinking that Hillary would be a better President than Bill. Hillary replied "Well, she's always been a bright girl"...(probably not an exact quote)

11. His rep requires no restoration. He left office with sky-high numbers, and after 8 years of
George Bush people realized how great he had been. You're simply giving your own opinion about how you felt during the primaries. If you're saying that your side won and history is written by the winners then you have made your point. Beyond that....not so much. A whole lot of people voted for Hillary during what Obamites proclaim "a shameful campaign." Do those voters require "forgiveness and redemption" as well? Considering how close the vote was, I could just as easily say, when Obama does something good, that his rep is being restored.

The Clintons reputations were in good enough shape that Obama counted on them to deliver crucial endorsement speeches at the convention. And then he wanted them out on the campaign trail for him. Maybe you didn't like Bill Clinton after the primaries, but you don't speak for all Americans.

As far as I'm concerned, Bill Clinton was the greatest president of the last 40 years, hands down. And supporting Hillary Clinton's magnificent campaign for president was the proudest experience of my life.

Steve

12. Wish I could K&R you reply. Some people just can't get over the primaries
as that poster in particular has shown.
