Obama Pledges Health Care Reform by End of Year
By Matthew DeLong 8/5/09 1:14 PM

The Associated Press reports that at an event in Wakarusa, Ind., President Obama today vowed to deliver health care reform by the end of 2009.

Obama on Wednesday visited hard-hit Indiana to announce $2.4 billion in taxpayer grants to create electric cars and tens of thousands of jobs. But he also pledged action on an ambitious health care overhaul that he argues would help stabilize the nation’s fiscal health.

Obama said: “I promise you, we will pass reform by the end of this year because the American people need it.”

1. It's a foregone conclusion..........
..... how happy everyone will be with it is the real question.

But it WILL be better than what we have now.

2. Many will be displeased no matter what...
And blame the president instead of admitting that many of our own party in confess are the real problem.

Recommending this OP.

3. I can't say I'm not dissapointed that Obama is still committed to bipartisanship
He told Chuckles Todd he prefers to have Republican input on the bill, which will only water it down. But oh well... :( It'll still be better than what we have now, and it will eventually lead to better things.

4. We are going to have "something",
It will also contain something they call a "Public Option", but it won't be openly available to "the public".
We WILL certainly be forced to "buy" Health Insurance.

I'm not sure that what we get will be better than nothing.
Especially troubling are the proposed "cost savings" (cuts)($500Billion) to Medicare to finance the subsidies for the poor, the MAJORITY of which will be enrolled in For Profit private plans according to the CBO.
