The Republicans know it.

It scares the shit out of them.

1. We seem to be headed towards a lousy public option, though.

Doctors paid at high rates instead of Medicare rates, which will mean higher premiums.

Companies with 25+ employees can't choose the public option without special permission.

People who don't like those features should please contact Congress.

2. I think you are right...
The Cash-for-Clunkers program seems to also prove that consumer-level assistance is much more effective than top-level (trickle-down) assistance (i.e., bailouts).

I hope the lesson is not lost on this administration and Democrats in Congress.

7. Yep. And that is exactly what they do not want. First it's public option, then it's single payer,
What's next, A MINIMUM WAGE HIKE?! I'm sure thoughts like these keep corporate executives up at night, if they aren't already taking ambien or something.

4. It would also put to death the bulls*&t claim...
that "95% of all Americans are quite happy with their health insurance".

5. IMO the 'public option' has ALWAYS been a back-door plan to get single payer
John Edwards plan (remember him?)

Compete with them and they weither shape up or ship out. If a few of them manage to stay in business selling "platinum coverage" providing private rooms, facelifts and the like for a gazillion dollars a month, let 'em. After all, Rolls Royce still sells cars. But the public option would become THE option in a heartbeat.

9. Which is exactly why they are the most uninformed.. It is by design.
The poorest parts of the Country have the most corrupt governments.. (see: Rove/Alabama) They have the least access to good information..(Go ahead, check out Air America's reach, or access to MSNBC, in the poorest places.)

It is vital to TPTB that these most desperate, these poor people who would MOST benefit from genuine health care reform have the most distorted view of the debate.
