Poll question: Will we get a decent public health care plan during Obama's first term?
A decent public health care plan would be one in which anyone could join and receive the care they signed up for. (I know this is vague, but I hope you understand what I am referring too.)
Poor and middle class families would be able to afford this public health care plan.
People would not be denied care because of some weird typo or preexisting conditions.
Because the shitty plan will be labeled "reform", and especially if it's mandatory corporatism, no real reform will ever be considered "necessary" by the Destructive Lobbyist-fellating Cowards who have infected our party.
5. I think "Yes". Of course it won't be single payer, there's aren't enough good Dems in Congress...
It was never going to be the full-blown single payer system that so many would love.
The president never suggested that it was what he was trying to do and there aren't the votes in Congress to get it done.
I believe we will get substantial reform such that poor and middle class families will be able to afford it and preexisting conditions will not disqualify members of the plan.
President Obama does not sound like he's going to let this go.
If it doesn't happen at all this year it will come back with a vengeance and be passed, certainly before his first term has ended.
It's Congress' fault, but it'll still make him damaged goods.
My hope is the voters clean House in the midterms - literally, and get rid of the corrupted Congresscritters. then maybe we can pass something real in 2011?
Hopefully, whatever gets passed can be built upon and expanded in the future. If something passes and the world as we know it does not end then maybe the congress critters will be willing to stick their necks out for more.
