The Obamas aren't heading to Barack's native state of Hawaii, shown above, for their upcoming vacation. They're going top shelf next month on Martha's Vineyard, where their rustic digs come with a basketball court for the hoopster-in-chief. Click here to read more about their vacation plans.

From Texas ranches to the Colorado slopes, check out where past presidents escaped for some down time.

1. Well hopefully they obtained permission first from the Republican National Committee
and I'm sure they will conveniently forget that George W. Bush took a 4 week vacation in his first year, in contrast to Obama taking 2 weeks.

4. The Clintons came to Utah for Chelsea's birthday once.
It was pretty cool.

5. Martha's Vineyard is so claustrophobic.
No matter where you go, you're there. I hate that place. I imagine they'll have a good time tho.

6. Oh, no! I LOVE MV! I always come away awed by the beauty of the place.
I go right after the 4th of July to avoid all the big crowds (I am crowd averse in my old age). It was great this year. I took the catamaran ferry from RI into Oak Bluffs, my daughter picked me up and we went back to the South Beach area. Went into Edgartown which was lovely as always and went to dinner at Menemsha...the best oysters all season!

Fond memories...

8. I hear that! Where did you work?
I know a few shops there (not too many) and a very few restaurants...

9. I managed a B&B that specialized in weddings.
It was a total nightmare. I never realized how corrupt some of the island can be.
