8. Why do you say that?
We know Obama felt the need to get in front of the story because he came out and made the remarks today, after Gibbs just said he wouldn't have anything further to add. He said he could have calibrated his words better and announced that he called Crowley.

Hey - it's all good. It's time to move on.

9. Clarifying and addressing is not walking back . . .
. . .he did not apologize for what he said or retract what he said.

10. Well, he called his choice of words "unfortunate" and they should have been "calibrated" better.
Notwithstading that the sucky media have done teh stupid on this issue, as usual, it was the right thing for POTUS to step forward today.

12. Whatever...
The African American community might not be on his side anymore if they find out that he capitulated on an issue that's affected many of them. But who cares about how they feel, right? Better to bend over and make the white man feel comfortable.

19. Hi, Hope…
He didn't walk back anything. There's a bit of revisionist history and fact twisting going on here -- as if that's any surprise.

Here's the transcript:

Hope this helps.

the unfortunate thing is, even with that transcript there are those here who will still
extrapolate the facts.

They're not even rational. It's as if they live in a parallel universe that has absolutely no connection to reality. They just make stuff up.

23. He didn't capitulate on the issue of racial profiling...
he just fixed a political mistake. His mistake was saying his opinion after saying that he didn't have all the facts and that he was biased. That's a political mistake. His call and calling his comment unfortuante have everything to do with that and nothing to do with saying that racial profiling is okay or anything.

His action is only about race to those who want to see it, namely, extremists on both sides of the aisle.

5. You really see what you want to don't you
Obama basically said he regrets the media distraction

He had every right to comment, and like a mature person, he wants to put an end to the idiotic media focus.

26. Wrong
my understanding of a walk back is retracting your previous statement and replacing it
with a newer version while introducing newer words in the mix.....thats a walk back.

In this instance he has not done that, if anything he was being a lot more clearer to
prevent further nuances.

33. Not the walkback you want. Not sure why you want that so badly, anyway
He did not say he was sorry, and after that asshat union leader called him a "disgrace" as President, he doesn't them a damned thing.

He simply clarified that he was not referring to the Cambridge Police at large or assessment of the officer as a person, which was clear to some of us the first time he said it. It was always about the ACTION of arresting the man in his own home. And that is still, yes, stupid.

And he added a reminder that we are NOT a post-racial society on top of it.

Smart man, good move, and he still held his ground. This is not your average spineless, don't-make-waves Democrat. And it's about time.

Want to call it walking back, that's fine. He's in a better place with this now, just in time for the weekend. By Monday, it'll be dead.
