I think Many Democrats are scared of the Media, and frankly, I can kind of understand why.....
Edited on Fri Jul-24-09 01:43 PM by FrenchieCat
After watching the impeachment of Bill Clinton,
the demonization of Al Gore,
the installment of Bush into the White House,
the promotions of St. Reagan,
9/11 Patriotism gone wild,
the push to a trillion dollar war in Iraq,
The Schiavo Debacle,
the Swiftboating of Kerry's 2004 campaign,
down to Kerry's Joke to keep him from running in 2008,
Rev. Wright's Marathon Pastorbaiting Teeveepaloozza,
and the neverending media focus on Sarah Palin.....
I can see where many Democrats might think that the media
might just "get them" if these congresscritters don't adhere
to the Media's agenda.

Meanwhile the GOP complains about the media's actions night and day,
while Democrats aren't allowed to utter a word about media bias.
Of course, the real problem is the Media's agenda
is really the GOP's agenda, as the talking points are identical,
and herein lies the problem for us;
because as the Democrats stay afraid of the media,
the further this country sinks into the abyss.

There is something wrong with all of this,
and considering that it has been going for too long,
we have got to do something about it....because in the end,
it is us that lose.

1. Obama's not afraid to talk about media bias. Thank God for that.
He's in the only Democrat in his party with some balls.

3. Problem is that I don't even know if "Balls" help in a long run......
although they might help on a short term basis.

who are not Obama. (IMO, I think he wouldn't like that comment).

The Blue Dogs will make your head spin, but not all of Dems are bad. We know how the media works, especially against Obama and some Dems.

They may not talk about media bias as much as PO does, but there are some good people in this party that are trying to work with our president in getting his agenda/bills passed. And we should thank them for that.

Don't loop them all into one just to praise Obama.

Just sayin.

edit for clarity

5. Actually, it ain't their job to have to measure everything they say fearing media backlash.......
based on everything the say and/or do.

It may be the nature of our current media,
but it ain't natural to our democracy.

The Media's agenda ain't supposed to mirror
one party in this country.

6. The reverse ought to be true
Pandering to the corporate media and furthering their deregulatory agenda only brought Clinton and the Dems more derision.

8. The nail on the head = furthering their deregulatory agenda
was like committing slow suicide.

So yes, to a great extent, they brought this upon themselves as a collective,
led by Bill Clinton back in 1996.

That is when most of the problems began far more serious than they ever were.

10. Randy Rhodes described how she met Clinton in 1996 and asked him about the Telecomminications act
Edited on Fri Jul-24-09 02:21 PM by depakid
(which, among other things destroyed radio in America). He answered with the usual equivocations and Rhodes claims to have said- well, I hope you'll be happy with being in the minority party for a long time. The rest, as we say is history.
