President Obama approval at 49%-1993-94 repeat?
Edited on Fri Jul-24-09 11:30 AM by Politics_Guy25
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Friday shows that 30% of the nation's voters now Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Thirty-eight percent (38%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -8 (see trends).

Just 25% believe that the economic stimulus package has helped the economy.

The Presidential Approval Index is calculated by subtracting the number who Strongly Disapprove from the number who Strongly Approve. It is updated daily at 9:30 a.m. Eastern (sign up for free daily e-mail update). Updates also available on Twitter.

Overall, 49% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President's performance. Today marks the first time his overall approval rating has ever fallen below 50% among Likely Voters nationwide. Fifty-one percent (51%) disapprove.

This is so frustrating. We have one of the best presidents that this country has ever had and now his support is in the tank. I guess we should bring back George W. Bush guys? Bring back W!! I mean come on...

Shame.

1. Uh, its Rasmussen. Need I say more?
And 2009 is nothing like 1993. Clinton was elected in a 3 way race and the Rethugs were only partially screwing up the country. Poppy was not as bad as his son. Can't compare the two eras at all.

3. Their final polls in 2004 and 2008
were dead ringers for the results. They're not completely discredited. Anyway, I gotta get back to work.

8. No, the weren't.
Not in 2008, any way.

In 2008, fivethirtyeight.com nailed it Rasmussen wasn't even close compared to Nte Silver.

10. Their approval ratings for both Bush and Obama are usually outliers.
That is different than election polls. Check it out and see for yourself.

11. Rasmussen admits they are outliers. They only sample "likely voters" which does not include a lot
of Obama's base--Young voters.

19. election polls and approval polls are different
If a pollster wants to lie, he can't lie in an election poll, because the result would rat him out. For approval ratings, there are no results; therefore no accountability.

7. Rasmussen samples "likely voters" which they say in their methodology does not include as many
young people because they don't think they will vote.

9. They are using the Poll to bring down Obama,s numbers.
Repeating this over and over convinces unsuspecting Americans
then when next poll comes around, more Americans will follow the
crowd.

The Democrats made a serious mistake when they remained silent
on the Hill never going on TV and refuting the GOP claims.

Daily barage of negative comments convinces Americans Obama
must not be doing a good job.

13. Rasmussen has consistently ranked Obama/dems like 5 points lower then most other polls
This is an outlier, they were claiming Obama's numbers were slipping into the low 50's during the stimulus debate, when most still had him in the low 60's.

24. Rasmussen had the '08 race as dead even until their final poll..
..which was adjusted so they could claim "accuracy".

Rasmussen modifies his polls to help GOP spin, then at the last minute adjusts them to match reality so he can claim to be "correct" on his final poll.

He's admitted as much.

Bye, troll.

27. Rasmussen has been leading the pack on obamas decline.
You do understand that is a clear definition of being OUTSIDE the norm.

You don't judge a poll's accuracy in how in anticipates (or creates) a trend - a poll's accuracy in judged by how well it reflects the MEDIAN numbers.

Outlier polls are worthless.

Take 20 different polls - the one to trust is the one that is dead center.

30. RCP Average: 54% - an average of all polls is likely better than just one poll.
