This video is a couple of months old, but it is very revealing of the racist mindset as articulated by Pat Buchanan.

According to Buchanan, the fact that only women were finalists in the judicial selection process is proof that Sotomayor was an "affirmative action pick" because no white men made the cut.

But isn't this the same guy who screams bloody murder about the Ricci case because the city tried to remedy what they saw as a problem resulting from the fact that no African Americans made the cut?

Of course, consistency isn't the racist's strong suit. But Buchanan's intellectual dishonesty and twists and turns are laughable in this case. It is obvious that in his - and in many others' - opinion, white men are naturally superior and any pool of qualified applicants must include them or it is suspect, in fact, proof of "bigotry." Yet, on the other hand, minorities and women are unqualified and undeserving and, thus, their absence from such a pool is not proof of anything wrong but just the natural consequence of the fact that white men are superior to them. Moreover, any effort to ensure their inclusion is an act of "bigotry" against white men.

1. IMO Pat represents the 1960's-70's Nixon era Republican mindset exactly.
So racist to the core they didn't (and still don't) even realize it.

2. True
The fact that he continues to say these things shows that he realy doesn't see how out of step he is.

Of course, it doesn't help that MSNBC continues to give him a platform . . .
