Is the Gov't Really the Problem with Universal Healthcare?
I wonder why we have any government agency or services if the "private sector" can do better. "New York Citi," might run better than New York City. Maybe NYPD as run by Comcast would be much less corrupt than system we have now. "Triple play" for parking tickets, moving violations and all court fees from $99.99 per month might be a smashing success. I'm sure there would be no lawlessness, greed, abuses to public safety or quality of living if all aspects of our economy were run by private corporations. Look at our healthcare system.

But seriously, I wonder why we can have a government post office which offers the same services as fedex, but can't have a government healthcare insurance. The largest problem with our health care system right now is the private sector. Why does the private sector think it is a death nail if the government would offer health insurance? Private companies started their own postal service after the post office was setup. They've flourished.

Are the insurance companies really concerned with gov't health insurance? If single payer is such a poor idea, then why are the fighting it? Is their fear that the gov't will stop paying large portions of their bills while they offer sub par and iniquitous services to their payers? Is the free market bullshit?

1. HMOs
In my case healthcare sux because of the greed of HMOs. 20 years ago they were an amazing solution to organized healthcare for large and small businesses. Today they are a bunch of greedy bureaucrats that are trying to get their slice of the pie from the work of the medical system at the expense of their "customers".

For better or worse, the US Govt needs to take over that bureaucracy and put some rules to it that are better than, "Turn down all claims in the hope that they'll just keep paying!"

2. Insurance companies only worry about bottom lines
they are lazy and greedy and don't want competition. They only serve their stockholders--that's why we need national health that serves the people.

3. Denied! Denied! Denied!
There is a lot of money in denying every claim but still collecting premiums.
