***BREAKING*** Obama caught checking out genuinely attractive woman of legal age!
Whom he's actually married to, and has a tremendous amount of respect for:

Not nearly as scandalous/salacious as a dubious photo implying that he's ogling an under-aged kid at a public event, but probably a lot more realistic.

I'll reserve judgment until we actually catch him in a Sanford/Ensign situation. Prior to the release of a certain cleverly marketed picture (from the right wing, no less) we have never had a single reason to believe that Obama was a lech, and he's been in the media, heavily photographed, for quite sometime now.

Always gazing enraptured at his own lovely wife, always respectful of his family, and women in general.

It's a lot of fun for the Freepers to try to turn this picture into a "Clintonesque scandal of epic Caligula proportions" but there's really no need for anyone with a grain of sense to follow suit. I just really don't see the point in jumping off the cliff with the rest of the scandal seeking lemmings.

1. Every time I see that photo, I... I... oh never mind. I'm old enough to be his mother.

2. Hahaha.
It's a nice pic, I agree...and a lot more indicative of Obama's tendencies, I think.

With all the scandal floating around regarding that pic taken in Brazil, I'm sure Obama would be far less amused by it than Drudge, and more horrified at the thought that his family might see it and think he's a creep.

So I'll give him credit and assume he's not acting like a pedophilic louse.

I've seen the picture you linked to - and that's what I'm referring to. He could be looking anywhere, not necessarily ogling the kid in the frame.

6. The news showed a video this morning of what he was really doing.
He had turned around to take the hand of a woman behind him to help her down. He was looking down at her hand.

7. Makes sense.
Considering that he has a completely neutral look on his face, his eyes are pretty much closed, and he is not actually even turned around far enough to see the girl. (Plus he has no history of lecherous behavior.)

But there are a lot of people who are quick to make a scandal out of anything they can.

...That our 47 year old president was publicly ogling a kid.

I guess a happily married faithful couple is less interesting to them than a salacious old lech making a fool of himself in public.

(Which he clearly was not doing.)

17. Being a decent husband and father is mortal and healthy.
Edited on Fri Jul-10-09 09:05 AM by Vektor
The video of the event proves he is just that, and he was in fact, not looking at that child at all.

Though from a sociological perspective, it's amusing/amazing how many "men" are so quick to defend a married man with two young daughters for being "normal and healthy" for supposedly leering at a minor in a completely embarrassing and over the top manner - like he is some dumb animal with no self control or social graces.

(Which, thankfully he is not, though why THAT'S a problem, and hard for some to accept, I just don't know.)

23. It's gross, and has stirred up quite a lot of unsavory responses.
Mostly from dirty old men claiming that it is just hunky dory for a 47 year old married father of two girls to be leering at a kid that is actually 16 but looks about 12.

Best to just avoid it.

20. So what do 16/17 year old young men think of being ogled by
older women like myself?

I do have to admit that very little of it is sexual, though. I just like to admire young men. I love looking at shoulders and arms.

For that matter, is it disgusting for young women the same age to be "ogled" by women? Yes, I do often find myself staring at young women. And I'm not even a lesbian. I just admire beauty wherever/whatever it is.

24. Well like I said...
Some people are so offensive in the way in which they leer at other people that it is rude, invasive, and actually makes the other person uncomfortable.

There is definitely a difference between respectful admiration of a person, and predatory objectification - which I just do not believe Obama would do.

25. Yes
I had a boyfriend like that. He leered at some women so bad that it made me very uncomfortable. At first I thought it was just me, but after a while I couldn't take it anymore and finally told him that it was rude and creepy the way he did that. He didn't see it that way.

:-) You got rid of him, as would any woman with a grain of sense - that behavior is downright creepy.

The other girls probably didn't like it either.

Edited on Fri Jul-10-09 10:31 AM by Cali_Democrat
The focus on such trivial issues like this is what makes our society so scary. This is why it's so difficult for us to solve real issues.

I myself have no problem with Obama looking at other people no matter what their age.

Hell, I find all kinds of people very interesting and I'm always looking at people from all walks of life whether they they are one year old or a hundred years old.

This notion that it's bad to even look at certain people from a certain age group is so childish and even sexist because it implies that men are evil horn dogs only interested in underage sex which is not the case at all.

Our society needs to grow up.

That IS gross. But looking because you find someone interesting is not gross. It's just looking at another human being and there's nothing wrong with that IMO.

32. I made that differentiation, for certain.
And it also gets gross when it is an underaged kid. I don't think it's too much to ask for a grown man to focus his attention of adult women.

36. You know what. My dad in his seventies checked out every skirt in his orbit.
When I gave him disapproving looks, he turned to me and always said, "You know kid, the looking is for free. When you go beyond that, then you've crossed the line."
