"...Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.) said on Tuesday that she is opposed to the creation of a public health care plan patients could opt into that would compete with private insurance.

"No, I'm not open to it. I'm not open to a public option," said Landrieu. "However, I will remain open to a compromise, a full compromise. Public option is not something that I support. I don't think it's the right way to go."...

Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-CT) just pulled a Dianne Feinstein, saying there aren't enough votes in the Senate for a public option, and that he'll work with conservative Democrats and moderate Republicans to pass a bill without one.

After telling CNN on June 22 that she didn't think Barack Obama "has the votes right now" to pass a public option plan, Sen. Dianne Feinstein caught some pointed criticism from health care advocates.

Richard Kirsch, Health Care For America Now's national campaign manager, told Talking Points Memo that "Senator Feinstein should know better than anyone given the state of the economy in California that health care reform cannot wait." MoveOn.org reacted similarly, airing an advertisement that told Feinstein Californians "don't expect her to lead just on the easy issues."

Feinstein had a chance Sunday to answer these criticisms. "I do not think this is helpful," She told the Washington Post. "It doesn't move me one whit. are spending a lot of money on something that is not productive."

Lincoln prefers co-op to government-run public option in health care

LITTLE ROCK — U.S. Sen. Blanche Lincoln, D-Ark., says she prefers private insurance cooperatives to a government-run provider that would compete with the private sector in reforming the nation’s health care system.

“We want to keep what works in the private industry and make it better,” Lincoln told Arkansas reporters in a conference call today. “There’s a lot of discussion about what else we might need that we can’t get from the private sector.”

13. Can you provide me with the link for this WSJ article?

Is it by Janet Adamy?

Otherwise, here is a link as to where Obama stands and he apparently is not agreeing with Rahm.

You can also look at post #3.

15. I needed confirmation that it was the silly Janet Adamy article.

Which it is...I don't see the quotes by Rahm everyone is talking about. I again see someone's interpretation of his words which I'm sure they interpreted the writer wanted too. There were two quotes of Rahm and none of which dispelled or stated there would not be a public option. Hence the reason I don't see why people are harping on Rahm. That is my only disagreement.

Rahm didn't lie nor did Obama have to walk back anything such as the DailyKos article suggested, because Rahm had only two quotes in the entire article and the rest is an op-ed of what the writer felt was this or that and what she said they said. And at that point, anything could be taken out of context. Something is a quote when it is in quotations, when it's not and it's just the writer describing the scenario it can go anywhere.
