Honolulu Star-Bulletin refuses to run WorldNetDaily’s ‘birther’ ad attack against Obama.

Media Matters reported earlier this month that many in the conservative media — including Rush Limbaugh, Michael Savage, Fox Nation, the Washington Times, and the LA Times’s Andrew Malcolm — “have advanced various versions of the discredited myth that Barack Obama has not produced a valid birth certificate, is not a natural-born U.S. citizen, and is not eligible to be president.” Among those pushing this false myth is the right-wing site WorldNetDaily (WND), which last night reported a setback in its conspiracy-driven mission to expose Obama’s true birth origins:

In the latest effort to obtain information that could settle the controversy over Barack Obama’s eligibility for office as a “natural born citizen,” WND Editor and Chief Executive Officer Joseph Farah attempted to buy a full-page ad in a Honolulu daily newspaper soliciting assistance in finding documentary evidence of his birth in the city Aug. 4, 1961, as he claims in his autobiography. … {T}he copy was rejected {by the Honolulu Star-Bulletin} – the latest turndown by a growing list of media companies that won’t touch the birth certificate issue even for money.

“I spoke to my publisher and unfortunately we cannot accept the ad because it is political,” explained Cyd Kamakea, classified advertising manager.

A number of billboard companies have also rejected ads from WND that ask, “Where’s the birth certificate?”

6. Yes, they did and must hope nobody remembers
However, FactChecker.org says it obtained Obama's actual birth certificate and that the document was indeed real. The site discredited some of the claims of Internet bloggers, such as that the certificate as viewed in a scanned copy released by Obama's campaign lacked a raised seal. FactChecker.org also established that many of the alleged flaws in the document noted by bloggers were caused by the scanning of the document.

A separate WND investigation into Obama's birth certificate utilizing forgery experts also found the document to be authentic. The investigation also revealed methods used by some of the bloggers to determine the document was fake involved forgeries, in that a few bloggers added text and images to the certificate scan that weren't originally there.

7. Thanks for the link. Wherever that billboard is up, another should be put up
with that quote showing even THEY found it to be legit.

4. Hey, listen to this
It's not too long. A conservative Hawaiian publisher (who doesn't much like Obama) really kicks Birther butt in this interview on rw radio. The loony dentist-lawyer Orly Taitz shows her insanity. Lots of fun.

8. Wow. So Orly's argument is that Obama is not eligible because his FATHER was not

a U.S. citizen meaning Obama isn't a "natural born" citizen?! Then she changes her argument to saying his own BC is fraudulent.

12. Her claim (now) is that Obama inherited his father's British Colonial citizenship
Nevermind that the United States pays no attention to other countries' citizenship laws. Unless you actively renounce your US citizenship, you've got it for life. A parent can't change a child's citizenship, even if they wanted to.

Today she is focused on Obama's illegitimate child who the evil Michelle had murdered in 2004.

Alternatively, she drags out the old satanic ritual story. You know, on the off chance someone will believe it.

http://www.orlytaitzesq.com/blog1/?p=2667

This is a quiet day for her, though. You should see her when she's screaming Obama is out to kill her or cheering the military on to a coup of the government. Other days she thinks Obama murdered the guy who tampered with his passport during the primary or that Stanley Ann Dunham is alive in New York City, using her high school friend's Social Security number.

Seriously. :wow:

11. I've had absolutely NO experience with lawyers.
But I would expect that one who would automatically assume that a non-lawyer is unable to hold a valid opinion on "legal matters", would be a piss-poor lawyer.

She got all these nutjob birthers to fax their insane letters to the judge in one of her cases against Obama. Can you imagine how sympathetic it made him to the cause?

She not a dentist-lawyer.

She's a dentist-lawyer-Realtor, Big difference. I know the law degree and "I assume" ,the realtor credentials were from an "one line" school. Sure hope the DDM wasn't. Not like I would let this crazy woman near my chops.

18. according to Orly any idiot can file a complaint...
yet she seems to have had a little trouble getting into an accredited law school.

http://www.sodahead.com/blog/66817/disbarment-of-orly-taitz-sought-by-california-bar/

FINALLY there seems to be a chance that the madness will soon end. The Chief Trial Counsel of the State Bar of the State of California has filed a complaint against Orly Taitz, one of the more outspoken of the conspiracy obsessed, a woman who was unable to gain entry to an Accredited Law School and whose career seems to consist mainly of frivolous attacks on anyone within range. With luck, and with the wisdom that the Courts have unanimously shown when dealing with this ludicrous issue, Ms. Taitz will soon no longer be a practicing attorney. We can only hope it comes soon

She must have got here law degree at Oral Roberts University

5. Obama's "Birth Notice" had appeared in that newspaper, and for the stated date.
http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/birthcertificate.asp

I lean to the broadest interpretation of "Freedom Of Speech", but still a newspaper should be able to avoid making a laughing stock of itself.
