Where would we be if the goverment had not stepped in during the polio epidemic

To all the blowhards who decry government intervention into health care.. only government can take on some of these big crises..

Edit to add.. I am very heartened by Obama educating the public to the need of a government option.m Unless people have a clear understanding for why it is needed, they will always be skeptical of something new.. Human Nature

1. Dead or crippled. I had relatives from the olden days who were afflicted

they were lucky to have made it. One Aunt lived out her life in a wheelchair after she contracted it.

2. I have older relatives too who were afflicted by it.. And I am old enough

to have been a part of the polio vaccination campagin in the schools by the government. I am one of those little kids all lined up to get her polio shot. I can still remember it.

3. I'm sure unfettered free market capitalism would have solved the

problem faster and cheaper than the gubmint did if they'd only been allowed to try......

have you ever noticed, they ignore people they are debating, do not look them in the eye, but put their heads up in the air and just talk over top of people.. They have no clue of reality, or history.. its a magical world all in their itty bitty little brains
