Growing speculation that Sarah Palin may not run for Governor in 2010

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0609/24051.html

Top Republicans and Democrats across Alaska are quietly lining up to run for governor amid growing speculation that Sarah Palin will not seek reelection in 2010.

No candidate, including Palin, has yet filed papers with the Alaska Public Offices Commission. Palin’s office declined an opportunity to explain her thinking on the 2010 race, and the Republican Governors Association said it would not comment on discussions it has had with the governor.

But a number of Democrats and Republicans in Alaska and Washington who spoke to POLITICO believe her silence is a sign she will not pursue a second term as governor so that she can play a larger role on the national political stage.

At least three Democrats and six Republicans are mulling over runs as they wait on the governor to make her decision.

“There is nothing that she has done that leads me to believe she will seek reelection,” said Andrew Halcro, a former Republican state legislator who ran for governor as an independent candidate in 2006 and is weighing another run. “If you’re Palin, once you’ve flown first class, you don’t go back to coach. She’s been to the show and certainly seemed to like it there.”

8. Exactly AK
She would probably lose in 2010 and it would be over. If she runs in 2012, it will be also over also over.

10. I am appalled that she was lifted out of obscurity to even imagine
a place on the national stage. Her epic ignorance coupled with her rabid rightwing ideology is downright scary.

:scared:

11. I have to agree. Palin would have easily won re-election if the whole world didn't see...
what an idiot she is.

15. I can't for the life of me understand how someone so ignorant could become governor.
And I suspect Alaskans are asking themselves that same question. The popularity she once enjoyed had more to do with the increased $$$ energy shares she dispersed to Alaskans, ironically a form of socialism.

...she'd be so bloodied and damaged even if she managed to get re-elected she can kiss any hope of actually moving out of there and actually SEEING Russia.

So she would probably start raising money and campaigning right away.

but she seems like an overly confident person and probably doesn't think she needs them. I think the Sarah Palin we met in 2008 will be the Sarah Palin we see in 2012.

25. Could this be a hint for a possible presidential run?
I sure hope so, she would go down in flames so fast come 2012. I remember someone around here posted a possible campaign slogan for her "Palin 2012 the world's gonna end anyway"

Even if Obama completely screws up I still think he would win against Palin. I only wonder what those right wing nut jobs who blamed their loss in 08 on McCain not being conservative enough would say this time around if they lost yet again.

Edited on Wed Jun-24-09 10:48 PM by rainbow4321
and, of course, while she is announcing that she will not run, she'll somehow blame her decision on anonymous bloggers!

And THEN, she will spend all of her time doing a national BOOK tour.

Her book is supposed to be released in 2010, I believe in the spring? This whole AK gov thing is reallllyyy cramping her style, having to explain all this here gosh darn you betcha get the state to pay to bring the Palin brood with her around the country.
Ditch the gov job and she is free to fly about the country leading up to 2012.
I can see her book signing tour schedule now: Iowa, New Hamshire...
