Stan Crouch NYDN: Column lauding MoBama
http://www.nydailynews.com/opinions/columnists/crouch/index.html

Michelle Obama with her two daughters in tow, attended a jazz program held at the White House last week. The moment reminded me of two things that are largely universal, sentiments that do not diminish or become corny and outdated no matter how far along the high and the low roads of technology and decadence we continue to travel.

The first is that, even in the most barbaric society available now or once upon a time - cruel, warlike, hardhearted, sadistic - babies were treated with the same tenderness and care with which we are all familiar. Why? Because they can easily be killed by rough treatment. Yes, cannibals, slaughterers and torturers know that, or their group will never survive.

Michelle Obama said that the jazz program was one of three she is hosting because she wants her children and others to know that there is more to music than hip hop. This proves that she has the humanity of our American children in some kind of an unimpeachable place in her sensibility.

1. Stanley Crouch, bizarre, possibly insane Black Neo-Conservative seems to have been converted
which I suppose is a good thing because he has a large audience in the Daily News.

I suspect the only reason Obama was able to "peel off" Crouch from the other side is his support of jazz, which to Crouch is practically a religion.

2. Yes. He's a really odd bird in a lot of ways. But if you like Jazz, you're okay in his book -
at least he's consistent in that.

3. I noticed how strange
the compliment was..to me anyway. I mean, it makes sense but "cannibals and torturers"..could have done without. That's just me.
