They dragged it through the courts good god it’s been so long
Maybe we should call for protests to help relieve the pain
But bitchin’ on our keyboards, we love to protest in vain
And I’m sure it wouldn’t interest, anybody
Outside of a small circle of friends

With all due respect to Phil Ochs

So many disputed elections and yet nothing is done...

1. If those friends have friends.

and the circles interlink to form an unbreakable armor, then I think the OP thought is a bit nieve.

Nothing done?

Everytime, even when one person stands up, something is done.

2. Such serious lyrics...
With lighthearted music...I almost don't notice the pain those lyrics are shouting about.

Well done.

I think Phil Ochs would be proud...

3. It is remarkable that it seems nothing has changed over the centuries.
Phil Ochs. I know how you feel. I feel it too. And that tune always brings home a sense of hopelessness.

We are busy growing up, and don't know. Then we are busy starting to live as an adult, and we ignore it. Then some of us who care, do so for a while. Then we get older, and lose a little interest. And then there is a collective memory that fades. And it all starts over again. Maybe a little ground is gained.

But there is an internet. And this is a new thing that is far greater than appears. It is a collective consciousness and memory. I predict it is a turning point.
