This country is just basically selfish!!!
The reason there is not much outrage in this country over topics that Dems care about is basically people (mostly GOP supporters) are just worried about what impacts them!

If you can get married then they don't worry about two people who can't marry the person they love!

If you have never been denied a job or a house or a loan or been harassed by the cops because of your color then you don't worry about people who have.

If they have Health Care then they are not worried about people who don't.

If they have a job they don't worry about people who don't unless it impacts their 401K value.

If Global Warming won't impact their life then why worry about it, lets the next generation worry about it.

If you have money for college why worry about student loans or college grants.

If women are treated like shit in other countries who cares unless that country has oil we need.

Most Dems I know worry about people who are less fortunate than they are. Most GOP supporters think those people did not work hard enough or are lazy or are losers. Very few Republicans think that they succeeded because they had breaks or were lucky to be born into a family that gave then opportunities that the middle class person does not have.

The lack of outrage over this Health Care issue is because most Americans are insured and don't know the feeling of panic they would have if they were not.

I wish I knew how to remotely teach people compassion or empathy. If we did then the Democratic supporters would be 75% of the country.

1. The way to get change is to appeal to people's enlightened self-interest!

For example, if one explains how health care reform will benefit them, then people will listen.
Mentioning that they're already paying for the uninsured by increased Hospital costs passed on to them.

The idea is to use people's selfishness to help make the world more equitable. Sounds contradictory, but this is the easiest, most effective road to change.

2. I don't understand why we can't sell it as a savings to business.
Wouldn't taking the responsibility of health care away from business be a good thing -- something event he US Chamber of Commerce could get behind? I just can't imagine if it's sold right the insurance industry outpaying to have this thing beat.

8. I agree, although I think businesses get tax breaks for providing insurance
I agree, even though businesses get tax breaks for providing insurance, it should still be cheaper
to get out of the health care business altogether.

3. And the majority of this country call themselves Christians.
And my read of the bible, specifically the Gospels, would indicate that Jesus Christ was not selfish.

4. GOP worry about if you want an abortion though
They usually poke their nose in when they are not wanted and they don't want their rich friends to be taxed more!

11. It's simple if a group controls the media they control the message
We need a Ted Turner type that creates a media organization that can compete and get the truth out there.
