DailyKos Diarist: "Committee of Ayotollahs have requested that the election be invalidated "

Clifflyon writes:

A committee of respected Ayatollahs (the spiritual fighters) have requested that the election be invalidated for the purpose of restoring the people’s trust in the Islamic Republic. We request the people to stay calm and not to provoke the government agents.

3:45 PM ET -- Support from Ahmadinejad "pours in." Via the NYT: "Under the headline 'Congratulation Messages Pour In,' Iran's state news agency reports, with an apparent lack of irony, that Mr. Ahmadinejad's victory has been hailed abroad" -- by Hamas, the Muslim Brotherhood, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement, and the government of Syria.

4. Wow, I hope they won't let Ahmadinebush steal the election. What a farce.
If they invalidate the election it means "sayonara" for Ahmadinecheney and the beginning of the end for Khamenei.

5. Geeze, even the small countries like Iran have courage to fight
what they think is an invalid election. Should we learn something here?

6. Is Ahmadinejad crazy enough to take on the Ayotollahs?
Edited on Sat Jun-13-09 03:20 PM by MadMaddie
If he does we can expect an all out internal civil war within Iran.

10. It's a group of Ayotollahs
Not all of them. Just like the population, there are moderate religious factions as well.

But the Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is still calling the shots for now.
