Just a thought about this Health Care overhaul that is winding it's way through Congress...
Perhaps, now remember this is just a thought, Obama has a strategic plan. Could the president be going for what he knows can pass and be implemented in order to get the whole idea of National Health Insurance out of the policy books and into practice...

Once that happens, they can add or subtract what works or what doesn't. They could be working toward a single payer system but look at how much that would effect the people, you know people like us, who are working in the insurance industry. Perhaps the Obama team knows that since we are far from creating jobs on any wide scale right at the moment, throwing a whole industry into turmoil wouldn't be the best strategy given the shaky times we are struggling with right now.

So maybe there is a plan, a long reaching plan to get something off the drawing board and into the public realm so we can show people that the US is ready for National Health Insurance.

Just a thought.

Remember, I am a strong proponent of a Single Payer National system. I am just wondering if the people working on the Obama plan are setting out a strategic scenario that will ultimately result in SP Health Care.

1. it looks to me more like...
...a 'mandated' system where we will be forced to purchase and for those who can't afford it we will be taxed to cover them.
The insurance industry is licking their chops at this government handout for them.

Since Obama is not talking about REMOVING private insurance completely out of health care then I have zero hope for "change".

2. You have an optimist's point of view.
And how I hope you're right.

3. I'm not optimistic, I am just saying this may be what they are doing in
order to disarm the Insurance Industry.

I have no idea what they are doing but I do know that if I was involved, this would be the strategy I would take.

4. Any "overhaul" without a public option is worthless. I have no interest in Romneycare.

5. Damn right. That system isn't anything more than forcing money out of people
who don't have it in the first place.

7. Obama knows single payer is best; he is on record as saying so.
However, he now has millions from insurance in campaign funds and so no longer remembers what is best for the people and the economy. He knows that to get single payer he must be out there working hard. He is not out there. The other public option is just handing the insurance industry a gift because it will not improve things. We are better to wait for single payer so Obama cannot claim a victory when there is none.

8. As likely as an intelligent designer creating the platypus
I think there are some smoke and mirrors and its decided what you get. But now is just about shaping public perception. Aside from that, there is no grand benevolent master plan. There would need to be a benevolent leader
