Meet the Revolting Renegade Dems who Gave NY State Senate Power to the GOP
Meet the two Democratic turncoats who handed control of the state Senate back to the Republicans: One's been charged with slashing his girlfriend, while the other is being probed in a funding scam.

Pedro Espada Jr., who represents The Bronx but actually lives in tony Mamaroneck -- is a serial party-switcher who's implicated in state-funding shenanigans involving his nonprofit health-care company.

Hiram Monserrate of Queens was indicted for allegedly slashing his girlfriend in the face with a broken glass.

WTF is wrong with our Democrats in New York? Senator Gillibrand is looking better as the days go by in comparison to those bozos...

1. It's just New York politics as usual.
I lived in NY for most of my life, before recently moving to Connecticut.
Seems like same story, different day.

2. Not only that, these two are from heavily Democratic NYC and they handed the Senate to the GOP
Not sure their voters had that in mind when they elected Democrats. :eyes:

4. To be honest. I think NYers just normally vote Dem no matter what.
It's rare to get a Repub. But Dems are a dime a dozen and at that point not much politics. It's all filler and who has the best name or look but rarely about policy and position or even background.

5. and that's my point...if they intended to vote for a Democrat
they probably didn't intend to have their Democratic legislator vote to put the GOP in charge of their respective house in the legislature.

that would be a big deal here in the Bay Area and could get someone recalled.

3. Are you kidding with Monserrate?! I know of him because I worked on a Flushing Project.
Shit...fuckers. The Dems are mess in this state no doubt about it. They won't last long though I hope. But we have seriously shady politicians, they're just not getting the publicity that Chicago gets. Gillibrand is looking better. If only there were 100 different copies of the Coumo's I'd be set.

6. This might be tied to gay marriage...and not how you think.
The old Democratic leader was blocking the bill. Now Espada, the new Senate President, says it's going to come for a vote.

I will not mind if the net effect was to take power away from another homophobic DINO.

8. Which old leader? Malcolm Smith is youngish. Silver is older and Assembly leader.

9. "old" as in "former" not age.
Clarifying.
