Coleman to stay course vs. Franken
ST. PAUL, Minn., June 8 (UPI) -- Supporters of Minnesota Republican Norm Coleman say a decision by the state's governor to forgo re-election won't influence Coleman's U.S. Senate lawsuit.

Speculation was mounting in St. Paul and elsewhere that Gov. Tim Pawlenty's decision not to seek a third term in 2010 -- perhaps to seek the 2012 Republican U.S. presidential nomination -- means Coleman is planning to end his legal battle with Democrat Al Franken to overturn his recount loss in November's Senate race and instead run to replace Pawlenty.

But unnamed Coleman sources say that's not the case, the Washington publication Politico reported Monday.

"Not at all," said the source. "He ran for U.S. senator, wants to continue being a U.S. senator. … What (Pawlenty) has done or not done has never been a factor in his decision-making."

"I do not think he will quit before the (U.S.) Supreme Court rules on the case," added an unnamed former Coleman staffer. "He has too many resources invested and has a good case on equal protection."

1. I never for a moment believed
he'd quit. MN SC ruling or not. He's in this to drag it out as long as possible.

Asshole.

5. Let him drag it on. The U.S. Senate makes the rules for who gets seated.
SCOTUS knows this and every expert I have heard on MN Public radio talk about this case say they will not hear the case, DU conspiracies notwithstanding. The MN Supreme Court will affirm the decision of the 3 judge panel (the Republican judge ruled unanimously with the Democrat and independent in every decision). Coleman can do whatever he likes while Franken serves as senator.

8. Franken is going to be seated, (when I don't know), he won the
election, Coleman is an asshole...and he lost.

Here is a question I have: When this is over, and Coleman crawls back under that rock in MN, is there a way he can be billed for all of Franken's legal bills in this?

As it stands, the R's are financing Coleman's appeals and fight, there is no way he could have paid for this on his own. With Franken winning these cases, can the initiating/losing party be held liable financially? This has to run into quite a bit of cash, and in many cases, the losing party is held to paying the winner's court/legal costs...I would like to see a bill dropped on the Coleman and the R's...:D
