Democrats Against Obama Website Est. 2007
I did a search on DU for any previous topics or replies to topics about this website, and it returned no related results, so if this website has been discussed in the past, please bear with me, as I am a newbie, having only joined DU earlier this year, and I never "lurked" here like some have before deciding to join.

It appears that at first glance, that the members of the website are who they claim to be, real "Democrats" who are opposed to Obama being POTUS. I am well aware that there are disgruntled Democrats/progressives on DU who are still very disappointed or even angry that Barak Obama instead of Hillary Clinton, or some other Democratic candidate that they preferred, won the race for the DNC nomination last year.

But having read just the first page of letters without digging any deeper* into the archived pages, it appears that this websites easily rivals, if not exceeds the degree of hatred and vitriol aimed at President Obama by the most extreme of RW websites. There is also a disclaimer stating that there is no requirement requiring any proof of being a registered Democrat to join. So what prevents any RWer from joining, falsely claiming to be a Democrat, and artificially inflating their membership count, even though it is still rather small, being less than 5,000 names so far.

What really pisses me off is that these idiots are indirectly and directly supporting the RW cause by creating and supporting this hate-filled website and one of the books that is "recommended reading" by G. Robert James: Sarah Palin-The Real Deal on Amazon.:grr:

* They are whining about frequently exceeding their bandwidth. Warning: I do not know if their bandwidth is causing this, but my Firefox browser using Windows with a Wi-Fi connection slows to a crawl, when I have a tab open for their webpage. I checked their link on Google, prior to clicking on it, and AVG rates it as being safe, and posing no threat.

1. The site name was clearly purchased to fight against Obama if
by any chance he managed to get elected. Probably by republicans.

2. Yep, there are lots of crazy sites on the internet.
I didn't go there as I don't feel like giving them a visit... will take your word for it that is a silly place. If there is a lot of misspelled words - that is a huge hint that it's RW loony bin.

Welcome to DU!
:hi:

4. Thanks, rosesaylavee..
I haven't browsed or posted on DU for about a month, but it appears that the some members are getting increasingly restless, angry and impatient here with Obama as president from the few threads that I have read today, but none so far are anywhere close to what I read on DAO...yet.

5. As it ever was...
After you are here awhile, you will get a feel for those who write very interesting posts and those who seemingly are here just to disrupt. Develop a thick skin, stay curious and respectful and follow along. This is a great site if you can do those things.

:hi:

11. I like to troll on Townhall
So I have a pretty thick skin, plus I am a member of a Detroit-based website which, due to all of the turmoil, job losses, uncertainty, and stress going on in our area, it gets pretty heated on our boards, but since I am unfamiliar with all of the personalities who post here regularly, and there are quite a few, I will try to keep a low profile...

7. reminder: just cause it's on the internet doesn't mean you have to read it
They sound like unimportant people. Specifically, like unimportant Republican people. The chance of those people being actual Democrats is close to nil. They're safely ignored. The man's running at 65% approval rating, but even that figure is misleadingly low because of all the dumbfucks who disapprove of him.

12. I was able to click on a link
After it took about 5 minutes to scroll down to near the end of their homepage, it led to a petition page of a conservative website called "grassfire.org"

DAO has to be a hoax, or there are just far more stupid Democrats running loose in the US than I would have guessed...:dunce:

14. It's been updated recently
Looks like they're using this site to rack up points to use against Obama in 2010 and 2012

They're FOS about their bandwidth claims:

We are constantly going over bandwidth; we reached 50 gigs in October.

For one, according to their webhost, they're alotted 500 gigs of transfer per month, all for the whopping price of $4.97-$10.97/per month:

http://www.jaguarpc.com/shared-hosting/

Two, according to the visitor statistics provided by a Domantools WHOIS lookup, the site is receiving less than 1500 unique visits a month:

http://siteanalytics.compete.com/democrats-against-obama.org/?src=dt100

It's one thing to ask for donations but these silly PUMAs just can't resist the need to inflate their importance and popularity.

16. 500 Gigs=10X more alotted thanks for looking it up.
And yeah...they are lying about going over bandwidth to squeeze their members for some cash, obviously their amount of donations and sources for new members are drying up.

I probably shouldn't have given that site any more hits by posting it here, but I read a topic on DU yesterday about some RW facebook page, and when I clicked on it, that is where I noticed the link and I had never before seen any anti-Obama websites allegedly created by Democrats.

By reading that siteanalytics graph with one big spike a year ago, then a deep plunge, then a small spike a month prior to the elections, it looks like it could soon be pronounced DOA instead of DAO, like was posted upthread.
