If America didn't care about Rev. Wright in the election, they aren't likely to care about Sotomayor
and La Raza either.

There will always be a few reverse racist wingnuts out there, but they're more marginal now than they've ever been.

That's how I read this.

1. no they don't. They care about their summer plans,
Their vacation, their paychecks, their jobs, the price of gas, how well Grandma's doing, where the college kids are going to spend the summer, getting the dog fixed, trading in that old car, going up to the cabin, going camping, the neighborhood cookout, summer camp for the kids, summer school for the kids, painting the house, cutting the grass, digging in the garden, going to games, going to the beach.

Those who voted for Obama are trusting him to run the country and giving him a lot of leeway. Those who didn't are either apathetic and tuned out, or being rabidly stirred up by their media. Those that don't have any other life, that is. It's summer!

3. I asked a couple of coworkers of mine last week...
.... about the Gitmo/Photos/Prolonged Detention drama.

I had to EXPLAIN it all to them. (one is a moderate, one is a "good Democrat" and both have only a passing interest in politics.)

After I explained the scenario, I asked for their honest thoughts. The moderate basically said the President should do whatever he needs to do to keep America safe ... the Democrat said the thought it was good that Gitmo was closing. They hemed and hawed a bit.

I asked them what was more important to them, all of that, or the economy ..... THE ECONOMY! They both shouted.

They'd feel the same about about Sotomayor no doubt.
