He doesn't know shit about shit about National Security.

Talking about, "we should have had this debate during the election!"

Cheney wasn't fucking running!
And the entire election was a rebuke on the Bush-Cheney Years....
and the Democrats won.

Doh!

I wish he would just go the fuck away.
He thinks he is wise,
But he knows nothing!

1. Their tortured logic
needs a kick in the ass from the American people because they will not stop enabling cheney who's "emboldening the enemy" until they get it.

10. Their logic is NOT tortured
It's enhanced questioning techniques.

And I think Pelosi knows they're doing it.

4. They hope not that many saw the actual speech from the President
and hope that the American people will only hear their commentary on the matter.

I hate the media.

They are the reason we have so many problems!

6. They don't have nothing...
because he gave them clear and rational answers. They know they have billed these speeches as a showdown so now they want to pretend there is an issue about where to put them but,I forgot these terrorists are SUPERHEROES. They don't even make sense they are out in full force today talking about who will clothe and feed them too. Do they think that we are so stupid that we don't know that we are.

15. It's legalese.
When you use the word "torture", you've already come to a conclusion. When you use the term from the legal documents "EIT" you're working from within the frame of what was being argued at the time. There's a connotative difference that the media has to observe in order to give the benefit of the doubt to those whom they are interviewing. If they don't observe the formality, they don't get the interviews.

If they don't get the interviews, they don't get the juicy conflicts that sell papers and attract viewers on the tv broadcasts. Think of it as an opportunity to try to get inside the heads of the fucktards who're still defending the policy... or keep a barf bag handy...

14. Sorry, But Impeachophobia Has Consequences
Bad as he is, it's not Todd's fault that DC-Dems have http://talkingimpeachment.com/blog/Hall-of-Shame-Inductee----Barak-Obama.html">refused to confront the war criminality for literally years.

Obama's treatment of torture as some sort of policy difference -- instead of the war crime that it actually is -- opens the door to all of this madness.

Which is why cheney "won the day." He had far less pretty words in his speech, but his (horrific) substance got the visibility he wanted. He's still winning the "frame war."

Chuck Todd, and the rest of the euphemedia, are simply the scoreboard.

16. Well, from what he said in his speech...
Obama's relying on Congress to decide if torture was anything more than a policy difference. He doesn't want to waste his staff's time with the question...

17. hehe... blaming the media for trying to find a "story" in the news is crazy
You just have to accept that it's what they do. It's what any writer will do... because it's what all readers look for.

If I write a novel about nothing, no one will buy it... unless I'm Jerry Seinfeld and already famous. if reporters write one sided love-fest stories, then no one will read their articles, and their editors will fire them. Welcome to capitalism (and I'm not even talking about the corporate bias... this is just basic business of journalism).

I didn't see whatever clip you're talking about... but Chuck Todd, as a general rule, is a fairly honest political interpreter. I've heard some stories about how Cheney's been pressing Obama... and how, while Cheney might be the least popular fucktard in the universe... his pressure has been sundering Obama's coalition.

The pundits call it as they see it. I see it as Obama's work to curry the right is leaving many portions of the left less than enthralled. I'm not sure I'd give credit for sundering of coalitions to Cheney, but the media sees Cheney a lot... so they can't help but suspect he has something to do with it.

I won't disturb your thread with GLBT issues... but I will say that Obama's own actions on that front might be doing more to "sunder" his "coalition" than anything Cheney might be doing.

I doubt that Chuck Todd would see that though. Then again... maybe I'm wrong and he's right.

All the same... I think that you might do well to study the media as a means of gaining insight into what the centers of power are hearing, and then turning around and spewing back out. It may not be an insight into "Middle America", but it's certainly an insight into the Upper Middle Class as it transcends state lines...
