Kudos to President Obama once again.
Outstanding job on the new automobile mileage and emissions requirements. I hope we still have an automobile industry to implement these much-needed changes in 2016.

 We will. Ford is in the best shape right now, and I wouldn't want a GM or Chevy... especially GM; too many rumors of parts being made in China and we all know their track record...

3. The increases start in 2011...

with yearly increases through 2016. I think that the Big Three are planning to have the 2016 standards in place by the '14 or '15 model year.

5. the sooner the better.
it sounds odd still referring to them as "the big three," what with all the downsizing, bankruptcy, etc.

6. Yea, it's far more important to regulate automobile mileage
than it is to first protect the careers of honorable people serving our country in the military. :puke: :puke:

7. it is certainly not more important,
and not everything Obama has done (or failed to do) merits congratulations. But this is an important accomplishment.

It is proably far more important than temporarily abolishing DADT by presidential fiat.

17. It's something, all right.
No immediate effect, except perhaps to get Americans thinking about fuel efficiency. That would be significant.
