Harry Reid doesn't want any Gitmo detainees anywhere in U.S. prisons...
so he won't fund the closing of Gitmo?! These detainees are no more able to escape from max security prisons than anyone else in them.

1. Reid is worse than Limbaugh in a sense that at least Limbaugh KNOWS he's an asshole
...and acts accordingly while Reid screws things up and comes up with the most flaccid of excuses or no explanation at all.

It's like conservatives voted for him in Nevada.

3. Reid is SO weak. And for him to be against the suspects being in ANY U.S. prison
is ridiculous. As if they're magicians or something.

5. Don't jump to conclusions
In the house, Obey was the main supporter of not funding the closing of Gitmo until more info is made available by the administration. Nobody is perfect, but overall Obey is damn good. and definitely not a Limbaugh wannabe.

7. Reid said he doesn't want any Gitmo detainees in U.S. prisons. Viquera explained
it by saying maybe he wants to look tough since he has an election coming up.

2. Do you know that this is Reid's idea?
I doubt it. Moreover, not funding the closing does not mean not wanting any detainee in the US.

4. silly question: how many in Gitmo are guilty?
how many of them will require further imprisonment and how many more will/should be released and flown home?

Why not give them a trial before determining where they should be held.

12. I sure hope this guy loses in 2010
It seems to be the only way the Dems can get rid of him- and we'd ALL be much better off with a competent leader in his place.

Republicans can have Nevada- and we still end up with a net gain- in more ways than one.

17. We all lose SOON!
Think about what the rest of the World is thinking as they observe OUR GREAT DECEIT: 1) continuation of military tribunals; 2) continued rendition to third world countries of detainees and NOW = 3) not closing GITMO Jan 2010 as Obama had promised not only The American People but also The World.

I FEAR that *the resentments* are building and WHEN we get hit again, we will all be POTENTIAL DETAINEES.

Think about THAT FACT fellow democrats?

We will then be fully The Fascist States of America.

13. I'm listening
to Mitch McConnell now praising Reid and the Democrats for seeing the error in Obamas plan to close down GITMO.

Perhaps Democrats against this should reconsider. I mean, when you have McConnell praising a decision it's absolute proof that you're making the wrong decision.

Anyone want to keep wondering why Obama isn't getting everything done he'd like? His own party is doing to him what Democrats did to Clinton.

I guess Reid and the rest didn't get it the first time around.

16. Hey Jen
how goes it?

Yeah, more and more each day I'm seeing a repeat of the Clinton years. Obviously Democrats are having a hard time figuring out what the word majority really means.

Now don't get me wrong, I still think we need a good, two party system, but all we have now are Republicans in the minority still running the show because of spineless toads.

18. It's not just our Legislative and SCOTUS, I fear The People have lost control of our government
to Wall Street and the Pentagon. That is, our executive branch, with a few "feel good" exceptions is seemingly run for and by CORPORATIONS. :(

WE WORK FOR THEM.

36. I have to agree.
The electorate gave the Democratic Party the House, Senate and Presidency to get change. When Democrats are the ones blocking that change, what loyalty is owed if the Members of Congress are not even loyal to that agenda?

I posted the stupid Senate Rethug video on this yesterday,

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=385&topic_id=314456&mesg_id=314456

in the videos section. I ended by saying STUPID STUPID REPUBLICANS. I guess I can add Stupid Stupid Harry.

Senator Reid is all about Wall Street and the Pentagon. :puke:

19. That makes no sense
If those guys were in our prisons instead of Gitmo, they would no longer be suspected terrorists. They would be fearing the gangs and rape that the locked US citizen fears daily.

21. Whatever they're called...
they're no more a danger to us in prison than any of the other prisoners. The congresspeople who are against any of them being held in the U.S. make NO sense unless they don't trust our prisons to be able to hold them.

32. I saw that and it is just bizzarre
apologies for trying to give him the benefit of the doubt earlier.

Incidentaly, they are voting right now on the Inouye amendment on this and it is an almost universal chorus of aye's. So far (almost over), only Durbin, Leahy and Reed dared vote no. Feinstein who spoke very well a little while back about why Gitmo should be closed and why there is no real problem in having detaineed in high security prisons on the mainland, voted aye. Just heard another no - Harkin.
