PHOTO: Proof that Obama bowed

President Barack Obama bends over so the son of a White House staff member can pat his head during a family visit to the Oval Office May 8, 2009. The youngster wanted to see if the President's haircut felt like his own. (Official White House Photo by Pete Souza)

No more cowboys in the oval office, please.

27. * was NOT a cowboy!
The Bronco Buster is the world’s most famous piece of American art. Frederic Remington presented it as a gift to President Theodore Roosevelt. This casting now resides in the White House Oval Office as a center piece and permanent element of the collection.

Big Presidential seal in the middle of the carpet?

18. No - it was apparently designed by Laura Bush
Clinton had a dark blue one that was (IMO) far better looking.

19. Ah.
So the rug in the Oval Office in "The West Wing" wasn't just an abstract concept...

Still, I notice that the desk is pretty spartan too--it's probably because he's been working so goddamn hard that he hasn't had time to rearrange the office yet.

23. He did get rid of Bush's decorative plates
You can't see it in that picture, but now there are books on the bookshelves again instead of plates.

I did read, though, that he wasn't planning to replace Bush's rug because of the expense, even though each new first family is given an allocation to redecorate.

24. Cannot stand the rug!
And while he is at it, he could get rid of those chairs used for official meetings, the ones with the light blue stripes. Whenever I see them, for a fraction of a second I see B's posterior in them, not an image I wan tin my head too often. On th eother hand, the rug kind of reminds me of the campaign Obama symbol...

And wanted to touch his hair to see if it was true.

Somebody just like him!!!

Wow!

28. I must disagree, but for very optimistic reasons--
That little guy is in his formative years. He simply accepts the situation for what it is, because it's all he knows.

That's enough to make us all very happy! :hi:

30. I've heard too much stuff like that
from mixed race kids to believe that. Seeking confirmation that they're okay the way they are. It's heartbreaking.

It's a nice thought though.

22. My 11 year old godson has a white mom and a black dad.
He used to wear his hair a lot longer, but now it's short like Obama's.

I know he is so excited to have a president who is just like him.
