GOP cashes in on Bruce Springsteen
Bruce Springsteen campaigned aggressively for the past two Democratic presidential candidates, but that didn’t stop Republicans from joining Democrats in cashing in on the Boss’ Monday night concert in Washington.

At least 15 lawmakers and political committees — including a half-dozen Republican ones — sold tickets to fundraisers at the sold-out concert at the Verizon Center.

Although most tickets had face values of less than $100, lobbyists and political action committee directors plunked down upward of $2,000 to watch Springsteen while schmoozing members of Congress — including some who seem unlikely to know the words to “Thunder Road.”

Take Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-N.C.), who worked on then-Texas Gov. George W. Bush’s 2000 presidential campaign before running for office. He planned to attend the concert as part of a fundraiser for the House Conservatives Fund, a PAC he chairs that lists its mission as seeking “to return the Republican Party to its Ronald Reagan roots.”

1. "return the Republican Party to its Ronald Reagan roots"
What, dead and buried? Hell, they're already halfway there.

3. something I don't understand
is why republicans would go see a performer who is so against their philsophy and actively works against them. I've seen Springsteen at Red rocks in 1980 and while everyone thinks he is unbelievable I thought he was OK and I have seen everyone. I would take a Who show any day over a Springsteen show.
