Condi's weird "I was just giving orders" defense.
Condo's self-incriminating response to the Stanford students previews her defense in the likely investigations. Her good friends among the W thuggery had fingered her as the one who "authorized" water boarding. As inept as she was in launching the clarification, this is an early sign that unlike the hapless Scooter she will not quietly accept the blame for what happened. She will turn on Cheney and Rummy. The key for the country is for the Democrats in Congress to keep ratcheting up the heat. These rat bastards will turn on each other. And the ensuing show will not be pretty but it will be just desserts for the most corrupt and vicious gang that ever seized the executive branch of government.

1. So far as I know Condiliar has never had to face actual questioning without
a protective shield.

The Bush administration allowed "limited access" for questioning by the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, for example. Kerry et all were fierce and clear in their questions but the format before that committee permitted Rice to eat up the clock with gobbledygook, which she apparently long ago mastered.

At the time she was in the catbird seat and thought she didn't owe them a proper response to their excellent questions.

She's not in the catbird seat now. A college student made her squirm and wiggle. Under real scrutiny, Rice doesn't stand much of a chance. Agree that she might finger Cheney et al if the heat gets turned on her.

4.  You are right. I would almost gag as Russert would gently
and reverently float softballs to Dr. Rice. Having been treated with such deference during her time in government, she clearly has a very difficult time handling anyone who is the least bit aggressive. The story that identified her as the one who authorized water boarding was a leak from a co-conspirator intended to put the responsibility on her. Thieves will out and that holds true for war criminals as well. Rice turns out to be a poor candidate for scapegoating. She has no dexterity in parrying tough questions and no personal inclination to take the fall for Rummy and Cheney. It will be of some interest watching her "husband's" role in the upcoming immorality play.

2. Considering how many members of the Bush Administration
are doing the backstroke, they should probably form a synchronized swim team!

5.  I love your comment, but with all due respect, this will be
the most unsynchronized swim team ever.

They still do not get it, that even though elected a person cannot make up their own laws..I bet you a dollar to a doughnut, that republicans would have been Tories in the Revolutionary War.

8.  Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it.
In this case - verbatim.
