Chelsea Clinton to Marry in August.
Edited on Fri May-01-09 07:50 PM by AtomicKitten

Buzz is building that Chelsea Clinton will get married on Martha's Vineyard this summer. Sources on the island tell us that the former first daughter will wed Marc Mezvinsky at Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen's home in Chilmark this August. The wedding coincides with President Barack Obama's rumored vacation on the Vineyard. To prepare for the A-list affair, Danson and Steenburgen are said to be doing extensive renovations on their property. Vineyard caterer Jaime Hamlin, who helped throw one of Bill Clinton's birthday parties on the island, said there's plenty of local excitement about Chelsea's upcoming nupitals, especially among vendors who hope to get some business from the Clintons. "They haven't called me yet," Hamlin joked. "Maybe they will." The young Clinton met Mezvinsky years ago through her parents. He is the son of former Iowa congressman Edward Mezvinsky, and like Chelsea, studied at Stanford University in California.

1. a report like this came out a month ago
and her spokesperson said she wasn't getting married (though it's understandable if they didn't want to talk about it), but that would be pretty cool if she got married this summer.

13. I was wondering. We had a congressman Ed Mezvinskey in the
early '70s. After he lost his seat he apparently got into some pretty bad stuff. Embezzling from rich old ladies or something. Is this the boyfriend's father?

Really a mess as I recall. He will fit right in on the golf course with Bill Clinton and George HW Bush. Chelsea of course is a hedge fund manager. Devoting herself to public service obviously.

Edited on Fri May-01-09 10:38 PM by pnwmom
And the media won't be reminding us over and over again of how he was a financier who bilked old ladies out of millions?

And there won't be lots of pictures of the four in-laws smiling and standing together?

You're more optimistic than I am then.

No, I don't have any insider information on the family, but unless Marc has completely and permanently cut off relations with his father -- and there is no indication that he has -- then his parents, to some degree of another, ARE a part of the package. And if he and Chelsea have children, that will be even more true.

58. I wish the Bush girls had rerained from campaigning for their father, but he is their father.
Edited on Sat May-02-09 03:43 PM by tblue37
The evidence, though, is that the girls are far more liberal than their father (remember Barbara's gay friend who used to have dinner with the Bushes at the White House, and who later wrote an expose of sorts?). Also, Jenna at least is trying to do something with her life that involves helping others, even if she did marry a RW bootlicker.

Since I don't know enough about what the Bush girls really believe, and since a lot of people party hard while in college, I am not willing to pile on where the Bush girls are concerned just because their father is a slime.

I think they are both just cute girls who enjoyed being rich and privileged, as most rich, privileged, and attractive young women do.

I do not understand the mental gymnastics you perform to place the Secretary of State as an equal to the President, let alone above the Vice President. The cabinet serves at the pleasure of the President, not the other way around.

She's the Vanna White to Obama's Pat Sajak - she's not in charge of the wheel, she just points at the prizes.

46. Oh, God!!!
I just went there via your link. Oh, my! Do they have no idea at all how absolutely hypocritical they are?

It took 40 posts for anyone to suggest that their going after Chelsea is as wrong as us going after Bristol Palin.

A few comments about how she is typically not having a church wedding.!! If I recall, Jenna was married at the Bush Ranch, was she not? Do the Bushes have a church on the Ranch? I have seen nothing in the article refernced that there will not be an ordained pastor presiding.

They, like some here, of course MUST comment on how rich the Clintons are. I guess the Bushes are now poverty stricken, do ya think?

Then, of course, there are the mandatory Chappaquiddick references. Never mind that an investigation opined that Ted was probably a passenger, and not driving the car when it went into the water.

For me, wading in there is like going into a toxic waste dump. But that is something most of them have no problem having here either. (Unless it is in their own back yards, of course).

57. That's why I never participated in the Bristol bashing done here.
It was just as vicious as the Freepers' posts on Chelsea. Both equally disgusting, it's not the children's fault if they have a parent running for office. Really below the belt to go after them. Ditto for the nastiness expressed against the Bush girl.

96. Absolutely right. DU should have been embarrassed for the Bristol
treatment; it was lowbrow and deplorable. FReepers should be disgusted by the Chelsea stuff--but they must have consciences to realize they're wrong. I doubt it will happen.

You will get them right here. There is a strong bastion of Hooters clientele here on DU.

It will be cool to have Obama there too at a wedding. Martha's Vineyard sounds like a nice place. I've never really been up in the Northeast (other than the cities). Damn, I need some rich friends!

47. Chelsea has always been a class act
She took a lot of low, cheap shots from the right when she was just a kid and makes fools of them by being a poised, classy, smart young woman.

54. Since she was 6 years old her parents would explain to her
that people would sometimes say mean things about mommy or daddy, but not to let it affect her. She learned her lesson well and adores her parents as much as they adore her.

her junior year, when she spent a study abroad semester in London. They ran into Chelsea there, and the lovely girl not only chatted with them in a polite and friendly way (when she must get really tired of being pestered by strangers), but she also was nice enough to pose for photos with them. Everyone who has ever encountered Chelsea says she is a sweet, serene, and charming young lady. The way she turned out is evidence that Bill and Hillary were great parents.

Wasn't I taking her to see Santa five minutes ago?

She will be 33 this year.

Edited on Mon May-04-09 01:32 AM by regnaD kciN
:wow:

(In case you don't know, that was a reference to a tabloid-worthy article in Murdoch's New York Post several years ago, analyzing a photo of Chelsea and a boyfriend at a tennis match, and declaring that her expression betrayed that she had been "experiencing 'bedroom pleasures'." :eyes: )

at a rally for Hillary during the primaries. She is very nice-looking, actually. I was within about five feet or so, and have a couple of good pictures of her, and many of Hillary.
